Unplugged rear brake pads are loose

The Brembo OEM rear pads have those “claws” on the back to fix the pads on the caliper. However UP’s street & track rear pads’ back are totally flat. So they are loosely sit inside the caliper and free to move around.

The driving seems ok on the street. But when I turning in a quiet garage I can hear something bouncing back and forth in my rear. I’m not sure why the design is like this and whether should I bring them to the track. @UnpluggedP

My UP’s are fine, no noise whatsoever. But UP provided a shim wrap that winds around the “ears” of the outer rear pads. Did UP send you the shim wrap?

Racing Brake XT910 and XT970 have high temp double stick tape on the back of the outboard pad to keep it in place. It stay put even after multiple track days.

It's a common issue with upgraded pads. I have the same clanky clank sound with my Endless pads. The recommendation is to carefully remove the stock shims, and reuse them.

That sounds a little bit hacky. Will that tape leave residue on the caliper when you need to replace them?

Works fine, no issues with residue. Glue and double stick tape are used in everything from smartphones, airplanes and rockets. There are specific tape for each application. We aren’t talking about your typical Scotch tape.
