Spoke to Tesla Service today and they said a new version of firmware is being pushed to customers starting a couple days ago. It should be fully distributed in two to three weeks. They said it includes significant Nav updates including traffic in routing. Have you downloaded it? If so, please give us a summary of changes.
Are you referring to the update as 5.13 or is that what Tesla called it? All the news to date has been that the nav update is what is supposed to be in FW 6.0, which is supposedly being released "shortly".
I was at a service center last night & they installed the "latest firmware" 5.12 (1.64.26), but I guess its possible some SC's have 5.13.
Pretty sure there would already be several reports across our community if it started pushing out "a couple days ago." Also, the next release will be 6.0 as TM is done with the 5.x series.
The current beta testers who have the latest firmware with the improved navigation are testing "beta version 6". Tesla could choose to release it as 5.13 instead of calling it 6 in the general release if they choose, but I doubt they would do that.
Because the OP refers to "Nav updates" which even Tesla (Elon) has stated previously will be the central part of v6.0. That doesn't exclude the possibility of a v5.13 but it would certainly only be a service release if anything.
Rarely have I read a thread with so many people stating as fact things they really don't know about. Including this post. But really, if you post something new as fact, please provide details and backup and don't fill in details with assumptions.
OK .. I'll call this out as BS (though would be happy to be proven wrong). First post .. is FIRST POST. Own one? no comment ... Enough doubt for me.
Mod Note: Until the OP comes back with a bit more info, or someone corroborates, I've updated the title to reflect this is unsubstantiated.
I am open to correction - wasn't 5.11 (then quickly 5.12) primarily to support the first deliveries of RHD cars? of course there would be a few bug fixes too.
Thank you moderator. I think that is very helpful. I have seen other threads in the past that would have benefits from some editing.
Don't know. From the posts is seems that a few 5.11 were rolled out over the air in North America, and 5.12 plus a few 5.11 were installed by the Service Centres. The bugs are based on the posts in 5.11 and 5.12 threads. This is really very typical of how Tesla rolls out upgrades. First they do some beta testing with known testers, then they roll out a few and wait a bit, then they fix some bugs, roll out a few more an wait a bit. Eventually they roll out to everyone.
Not sure I follow Jerry. Are you saying that 5.11 and 5.12 are rolled out to set up for 6.0? If so, I disagree. Seems that 5.11 and 5.12 are attempts to fix problems in the 5.x series as they have nothing 'new' in them.
My car was in for a squeaky door handle a couple days ago and the service center updated my car to 5.12 (1.64.26), I was previously on 5.9. No doubt in my mind that 5.13 is not rolling out right now; 6.0 is the next big release.
Yes, this is my first post and I'm surprised by the attitudes in some of the responses. I spoke to two different Tesla tech specialists on the phone (I think they were in Fremont) who both said there was a firmware push which had started "about two days days ago" and that the sequencing would would take about two weeks to complete. I specifically asked if it included the traffic enhancements to the Nav and they said yes. My P85+ is just a couple months old, (no service needs or issues w this spectacular car) so my update will be late since they explained they sequence by VINs. 6.0 would be big news... Not seeing any posts, I find it strange - so I'm asking this group. No need for the couple of harsh replies.
