Does anyone know if there is a way to update your google maps? I have had my Model S for about 10 months but the map is over two years old(telling by the overhead view of my house). Thanks

If you see the same satellite view on a PC/MAC as on the Tesla, then I’d say ask Google ?

The satellite maps are pulled from whatever Google offers as its latest. If what shows for your house is 2 years old, then that's the newest that Google offers.

I also thought it said in the lower right hand corner that it is Google Maps 2018 (or something close to that but 2018).

My house completed construction in April and the picture of my house is them pouring my driveway. Very recent so they are updating them. I think like others stated it's whatever google is offering.

It's also important to understand that Google maps satellite view is not updated as frequently as the maps (streets, etc.) are. That is true for google maps anywhere (PC, smartphone, Tesla, etc.

What is strange is that the google maps in my car is more up to date than what I get on a PC. We are building a house and my car shows an empty lot and the PC shows the house that we tore down. So my car is better than my PC. I just did some digging and the satellite on the PC shows a house that was torn down in 11/16.

In my area, the satellite pic on the car is from Feb 2018 - torn down house, fresh pine straw in our temporary house, no leaves on the trees. Street view on the PC is Feb 2016.

Just checked my wife's phone (iphone) and it shows the house torn down 11/16 as gone but not built yet (it was built between 11/17 and 3/18.

So what I see is Windows PC has a Pre 11/16 pic; Iphone is 11/16-11/17; Tesla and Android 2/18. Street view 2/16

I wonder how much of that is due to caching. I don't believe the Tesla caches any of the satellite images (at least not yet, Musk has tweeted about some potential updates here) while your PC and phone may be caching images and not requesting updates as frequently as your Tesla.

Google may take a while to update the satellite images in some areas.

However, Google is pretty quick in updating road changes - it seems that when new roads are opened, those changes appear within a day or two.

We live in an area that had flooding from Hurricane Harvey. Google updated the satellite maps pretty quickly after the hurricane, and you could see the areas around us that were under water. And they kept those satellite images in the maps for months afterward.
