Is it worth buying a used 2016 Tesla Mode X 75D with high mileage? It’s from a 3rd party dealership which come with the following features and services preformed:

2016 Tesla Mode X 75D
163,000 miles
  • Autopilot with summon & lane change
  • Black exterior
  • Black interior
  • 6 seater
  • Weather package
  • Premium package
  • Cool/heated seats
  • Free supercharging? - said it’s transferable
  • Clean title

new 75D battery - at 119k miles
New rear motor - at 122k miles
New MCU

price: $46,999

good price or run away?

I rely a lot on supercharging - travel a lot. Will it transfer over since I heard all 2016 models have free supercharging stuck with the vehicle and not the owner? I also heard that it’ll transfer over only if bought from private owner and not 3rd party dealership

Wow, that is a really scary sounding car ;) you best send that info to me. There is some issues that may come up, to be totally transparent. Everything can be fixed and there is starting to be 3rd party support available.

Lots of good resources available. Make sure you learn a lot.

Honestly, if you decide not to get it, I'm very interested. :D

Will chime in more when I have some time later.

You’ll highly likely lose supercharging. It will happen when it’s transferred to your account. It just won’t be there.

Also keep in mind that typically they are refurbished batteries, not new ones.

I think it is an amazing price for a well optioned X. I’ve had 2. You’ll likely have the same or less issues than a much newer one. Only question is if you could live with a Y for a price that is close. With free SC, the 75 doesn’t matter unless you go far frequently.

I drive around 30k miles annually so yes, supercharging is a must and I'm sure I'll save $$. I would love a 100D but unfortunately, they didn't make them during 2016. From my understanding, 2016 was the last year where vehicles had free supercharging stuck to the car, not the owner.

X are very similar to S. Doors may need more servicing than normal doors.

I believe the car will have plenty of life left. Are you handy? The way I look at it the X has lots of moving parts. Which will likely need service and maintenance. But generally not the kind that will break down and strand you.

however if your not handy. Depending on where you are finding 3rd party support will generally be hard.

there is good chance you will loose the supercharging.

it’s probably best to order through Tesla inventory. At least they come with warranty and some with free supercharging.

anyone know the difference between autopilot hardware vs autopilot with convenience features?

You do realize that every year in Consumer Reports, the Model X winds up in the bottom 10 of reliability, right? Having one out of warranty is means taking some big chances.

Free supercharging is a must for me.
...
Anyone have a model X with high miles and any issues with it?
I also echo the why. That almost tells me that you don't have the budget to set aside for repairs.

There have been PLENTY of Model X here w/low miles that had plenty of trouble and to the point of being bought back. This is besides Acceleration Shudder, which you won't be covered for.

Max Supercharge power (<90kW) and thus charging speed could be reduced making free SC not so valuable.
Good point about "nerfing": I'd forgotten about that. With a car with that many miles, it's possible it's been "nerfed" or will get nerfed if the OP intends to Supercharge a lot.
90 and 75 battery packs getting nerfed early???
If you fast charge, Tesla will permanently throttle charging

Someone will have to chime in about how much "nerfing" they actually seen on a 75 kWh pack once they pass some of those values.

Question is what is the current EPA rating on the battery?
I'd guess it probably has the range equivalent to a 65 now?

Also, it appears the car has MCU1 and HW2, though that should be confirmed by the OP

If you don't need the car to routinely do road trips, its a pretty good option, though I can't comment on the value for the price.
