Used Tesla Model X - CPO versus third party dealers

I have been looking into buying a used Model X CPO from tesla.com for a few months now. Waiting for the right color at the right price. I found out today that one can purchase a Tesla directly from the previous owner or from other re-sellers(dealers) like cars.com or facebook marketplace or at onlyusedtesla.com. And then purchase an extended warranty from Tesla, the 4 year warranty costs around $6000. Essentially this will become equivalent to the CPO(certified Pre-owned) bought from tesla.com. Is this true ? Any thoughts advice from the experienced folks out here ??

Also keep in mind that the private party car has to be within 1000 miles and one month of the factory warranty expiring to qualify to get the ESA. That basically means any car less than 4 years old or under 50,000 miles. After that you can't get the ESA from Tesla, but you can still get an extended warranty from X-Care: https://www.xcelerateauto.com/x-care/

And as Maxv pointed out, there is a $200 per visit deductible for repairs under the ESA.

Also, some older and higher mileage cars from Tesla only come with a 2-year 100k MAXIMUM mileage warranty.

If happen to change your mind, you can get a pro-rated refund of the ESA cost, less the cost of any repairs already done under the ESA.

Finally, the 4 year Pre-Owned warranty from Tesla starts at the mileage at the time of sale.. so it extends 4yrs/50,000 over the current odometer mileage. The ESA starts at 50,000 miles when the factory warranty expires.
