"This report documents 17 fossil fuel backed groups and electric utilities running some of the most aggressive campaigns to slow the growth of solar energy in 12 states, including eight attempts to reduce net metering benefits, seven attempts to create demand charges for customers with solar power, and five efforts to roll back renewable energy standards."

But there is hope stay aware and get involved. Our local utility tried to add an absurd demand charge and due to many more f us speaking out, they withdrew their motion.

Then they fight you, then you win?

If Ghandi is applicable to the move to solar, this may be a good sign overall...

There is a good video about the renewable tipping point in another thread - the idea that "The more you manufacture a product (solar cells and windmills), the lower the cost, the more you extract a resource (oil and coal), the higher the cost" pretty much spells out the doom facing the fossil industry. They know it, and are fighting to prolong the end.

Agreed. Public vigilance, and persistent engagement is critical in order to prevent concentrated economic energy interests from overruling the public interest.
