We've got sleep mode. How about comatose mode.

My Leaf does exactly that. After 2 weeks on inactivity all services (except critical services such as door locks and security system) shut down. At that point the car is ready to survive for many months. Remote app no longer wakes up the car; you have to wake it up in person, buy when you get back to the airport, you haven't lost any range, and you don't have a brick on your hands.
