VDS Difficult to read

The VDS on my 1.5 is really difficult to read in the bright sun. Beyond the obvious of adjusting contrast (which doesn't really help), is there anything that can be done to make it better?

Any suggestions on how to tell whether the problem is with my particular VDS (such that replacing it would improve it) or if it's just the overall design?

That's one nice thing about the Roadster compared to the other models-you dont have to see the screen to operate the car.

The VDS along with the digital part of the dash is almost usless in direct sun.

And I rarely put up the top--so goodby VDS unless the car is in the garage!
