I'm cross posting from the X forum as this issue affect Model S as well.

Last night (01/12/2017) Tesla quietly removed any mentions of ventilated seats from the design studio (both X and S models) and that's a concern for me (please do not bring up the effectiveness of the ventilation, that's not what this post is about).

My X is confirmed but not in production yet and the MAIN reason I ordered the "Premium Package" was because of the ventilated seats for always hot and humid Florida (again, please do not bring the effectiveness of the ventilation, I've tested numerous Xs and aware of others complains. The ventilation is fine for me). I checked my ordered specs page and the "Premium Package" is listed just as "Premium Package" without any specification of the included options and features! So, theoretically, Tesla could build my X without ventilated seats and I would have no recourse!

I did take screenshots of the design studio with my options as ordered - with ventilated seats:

Here is the Premium Package with ventilated seats removed:

Removal of ventilated seats greatly devalued the Premium Package and if I choose to drop it - I'd have to pay $500.00 for the change! WTF!

I will contact Tesla for clarification, but dont feel the reply would be a reliable indication if I'll get ventilated seats or not. My opinion at this point that it's really a crapshoot if I get them or not.

So, do you think I'll get the ventilated seats?
Do you have any advice?

If it was there on the order page when you ordered it would have been confirmed and you should get it unless there is some compelling reason for them to remove it (service, safety). Get the answer in writing from Tesla.

Just got a reply from my Delivery Specialist:

"Congratulations on the order of your Model X! Fortunately, the removal of ventilated seats only applies to new orders. Your Model X will be built with the ventilated seats. Please let me know if you have any additional questions regarding your order."

Still, keeping my fingers crossed :p

I didn't want them anyway, but didn't have the option to remove them.

Guessing either (a) I will get them or (b) I will find out that I am not getting them when I collect the car ;)

I think you can call Tesla and ask not to include them now with no change fee - this way you get what you want and Tesla saves some money by not including the ventilated seats. I think it's worth inquiring from your delivery specialist.

Does anyone know if Tesla produces the ventilated seats in-house or are they buying from a supplier? It's my understanding that the next gen seats used to be made for Tesla by Recaro, but they couldn't deliver on a reliable basis, so Tesla dumped them and starting making them in-house. Maybe its the same situation (or reverse) here? The forcing of the ventilated seats on to PUP requests for such a short time is a pretty obvious ploy that they were dumping their current inventory in a hurry.

Ugh that's so irritating. I finally pulled the trigger last night on a 60D with PUP, but I didn't think to go through the features on PUP (again) like I had so many times before. I am in communication with the OA I worked with, but in Dallas I was really looking forward to mitigating swamp ass on the road.

The PUP was barely worth it with the ventilated seats included. At least I'm within 7 days to make a change, but that was the feature I was most excited about within the $3500 add-on. Not close to worth it without them.

I agree! The value of PUP diminished drastically with removal of ventilated seats, not that it was a good value to begin with
