Verizon ending 3g service

Verizon says they are ending 3g service in 2019. I think ATT also ending 3g... so what does this mean for those with 3g nav systems?

There's a big difference between stopping to activate new 3G-only phones, and discontinuing support on the network for devices that are already active. I'm pretty sure that Verizon is still supporting ancient CDMA-only phones.

Not to mention Tesla uses AT&T, not Verizon. Different animals altogether.

Looks like ATT will be turning off 3g in 2022, I wonder how that will impact older Model S’s and if Tesla will do anything. They already offer the LTE upgrade and Mcu 2 upgrade as options so they probably don’t need to do anything, but it’s a bummer if those become mandatory upgrades now.
