Am I alone on this, or is anyone else alarmed at the extensive "due bill" list? Not just at the depth, but also the multitude of what I would consider as 'basics' due on a $100k car? Elon states that this should be the best car all together, not just the best electric car. As a fairly early sig holder, I worry that I may not be getting anywhere near the product that was described at launch last year. PLEASE tell me I'm somehow misreading Rod and Barbara's post!!

No. First of all the Founder's cars are very early versions, and I'm sure they were expecting a few things like this. But more importantly, Tesla's service is extraordinary and I'd have no concerns whatsoever about these problems being corrected.

Great post (though delivery might differ in Europe).

In Belgium we got to have front license plates, but only the one behind is 'official'. I will put a sticker as front plate rather than have to be drilling holes (even though it is not legal).

The car wash avoidance rings a bell too. The Insight had the same issue. The panels covering the rear wheels would get yanked off by the tire cleaning brushes that some car washes use. I had to get it hand washed when I went to the car wash. I also had to manually remove/replace the panels when they washed it. This didn't seem like a big deal at the time, but became a nuisance after several years. I'll have to go back and re-read that verbiage again. Not sure if thats just one of those kinds of CYA disclaimers or whether owners really do need to not use the automatic car wash.

Sigh... tesla can't win for trying.

THIS!!! Man this is a picky bunch on TMC.

This is great news to hear that cars are rolling out to owners and to get information on what state the "production" cars are in currently. I would take Rob and Barbara's Model S in a heartbeat, punch list and all! Congrats to them on their delivery and it sounds like I will get exactly the car that I planned to purchase.

BTW - If I wanted a 100k car that has all the bells and whistles of a Merc S-Class or BMW 7 series...I would just go buy a S-Class or 7 series.

This post does seem to suggest that the rear facing seats can be installed after delivery. The question I have is whether the frame work for those seats was already there since they anticipated the rear facing seats or whether it will be a totally new install.

May very well be a question already answered...

...I just seem to remember some question about whether they could be installed after purchase. I guess it's a non-issue now.

I also recall that there was a post saying that the rear-facing child seats would need to be ordered at original order time. The reason is that there was "special hardware" needed to have them that would be installed at original mfr time. Implying that they couldn't be easily added after the fact. So, maybe the "due bill" here is just the seats, but the "special hardware" is there already since it was ordered.

Now there was debate whether this was just a marketing message to get people to pay up front for this option and not wait to order it after the fact. But I don't want to assume the worst. But it would be nice to get confirmation one way or another. I have a 2 year old now. And possibly another on the way. I don't need the seats now and wont for 2-3 years. So it would be nice to know if I can wait to purchase them or if I really need to do so now.

I could say a lot of things about this but Im going to hold my tongue!

At the Mahwah event, although the Google map screen worked fine, the Navigation would hang when user attempted to "show route". Then you had to press Cancel and wait for computer to give control back to user.

Hope the falling trim above the time clock (upper right of screen), will be fixed. Cinergi and I noticed this too at the Mahwah event.

In Texas I definitely need the pano roof screen shade which every employee from the NYC store on 25th to those at the Mahwah event to the sales specialists on the phone agreed the vehicle would have. My Hybrid Escalade has one and the screen shade is just a must have.

Disappointed about the motorized mirrors but I'll have to deal with it.

Homelink would be very nice (again like the Hybrid Escalade). Where would this be accessed from ...the 17" screen? All cars that I've seen with this feature have a specific button on the sun visor or the in the ceiling in front of the rear view mirror.

Rather than just black carpet, it would be great to have the flat, ribbed middle panel with the matching trim of the car (the space in front of console on the floor) like I saw in all cars at the Get Amped event b/c this 1) emphasizes the "no middle hump" of the car 2) adds depth and style to the matching trim above on the dashboard and 3) provides a functional container for whatever items or even a small satchel.

The above items are far more important to me than having to drill holes in front license plate. But that too is slightly disappointing though not that big of a deal.

Damn, now that I think about it, just give me a pano roof screen shade and Tesla iphone app (to remotely pre-cool the car) and I'll shut up. This is one thing that I haven't seen yet but that all Tesla employees have promised.

So I'm glad you held your tongue! :)

fyi - the Roadster homelink are buttons on the VDS. Not dedicated buttons somewhere else. I've never had a problem or been annoyed by the placement.

I hope I'm interpreting your statement correctly -- that you're saying that you want to see the iPhone app?

They were showing an early version of it at Fremont, and if you look for the Forbes video where they showed off the Model S (on YouTube), there's also a brief demonstration of an early version. You can tell it's all early days, because a lot of the software on the 17" display wasn't working when the video was taken, but it at least shows a hint of what they're aiming for.

It's supposed to be available later this summer: http://www.teslamotors.com/models/charging#/onthego <-- click "check on your car."

Thanks. I noticed on the bottom of the iPhone example screen it said Location. I know there was a post somewhere about insurance asking if the police could remotely locate the car like a lo jack. It would be nice to have the location feature for this purpose or if you forget where you park (but why would you forget what you did with a 100k car?)
