Very unhappy with Fremont Delivery

3. This morning the MVPA disappeared and I answered series of questions on my account to confirm details. Now it’s asking for payment but no time to do ACH so got cashiers check.
Please enlighten me. How does an ACH payment take more time then running down to the bank, standing in line, getting a cashiers check made out to Tesla, then returning home? My ACH payment was made at delivery. I first thought about getting a cashiers check but then read the fine print on the MVPA where it said "these estimated amounts". Rather than risk getting the amount wrong, I went with the ACH. Typed in my banking information, specified the final amount and seconds later the car was mine.

I’ve not done an ACH payment before. Do I just need my account # and bank routing number?

I see that ACH payment but never received anything via email.

How are you making that payment? Cashiers check or transfer?

Cashier's check ... I had requested them to send me the "proforma MVPA" earlier which had all the amounts listed. If I end up owing more than this (unlikely, or it will be a very small amount) I'll do ACH during delivery or personal check (what. a. time. warp). ISA confimed this wouldn't be a problem.

I wanted to do ACH but after talking to different Tesla reps nobody could tell me for sure if it would go through in time. Something about 48 hours before to clear. Then others like yourself say then did it at delivery. I can’t remember the last time I got a cashiers check lol. Anyhow safest route since the nearest Tesla Delivery Center is 2.5 hours away.

Are you enlightened? o_O

I got my cashier check already based on Pro-forma. But I noticed the amount of due got lowered couple hundred. I emailed my sales and asked him that I need to change the cashier check. He answered me either I have to check the cashier check or ACH electronic transaction. Even though I have my car delivery schedule tomorrow, I just did ACH transaction. I am not sure whether Tesla will release my car or I have to get a new cashier check again tomorrow. I will see.

Yes, thanks. ACH payments can take a few days for the funds to be deducted from your bank account. However, my understanding is that your account is checked for sufficient funds when the transaction is initiated. What prevents you from immediately going to your bank and transferring the funds out eludes me. Maybe your bank marks that amount as a pending transaction. What I do know is that my ISA said I could pay for my car with a cashiers check or ACH, with the ACH being done at Fremont (and not online through my order page). In my case, the amount due increased $100 from the pro-forma document so if I did have a cashiers check, then I'd have to pay the balance another way. Rather than risk the delivery center refusing my personal check or credit card, and after reading the fine print on the MVPA, I went with the ACH.

When talking to my ISA, I asked about potentially moving mine to Fremont Delivery (instead of Marina Del Rey, CA) to perhaps schedule a tour at the Fremont factory along with my pickup. She immediately said that if I chose Fremont, it would be delayed from 1 week to at least a month because they are extremely flooded and behind with deliveries at Fremont.

I was out in 10 mins. Car was not properly washed as I realized later. The guy just showed from outside how to put it in drive. Said congrats and left. Had gotten way better treatment on all my other cars.

Any other folks in the bay experienced same?

I know they are delivering many vehicles. But I struggled with basic things like adjusting mirrors, operating lights and stuff. They were out of coffee and water cups. Asked them to replenish. Which they did.
Did your delivery person provide you with registration in the window? If not, you left too soon. When I took delivery in Fremont last weekend, there was a lot going on. My car was poorly washed but I just wanted it and my ISA later told me I could take it for a new car delivery wash and polish at any service center because some delivery centers don’t have all of the resources.. The delivery guy walked me through the basic shifting positions and paired my phone and then He told me he would be back in a little bit so I got to take the time to explore the car on my own. He showed up again 10-15 minutes later with the registration for the window. He did provide me with a folder that included the pg&e rebate and a service information sheet. Enjoy your car and don’t fret! There wasnt much else to enjoy but your car! :p I would take a 10 minute delivery over any other ICE car experience I’ve had in the past. Don’t get me wrong... I left with a lot of questions but I figured them out on my own over time....it’s been fun! And I almost forgot... anything you are concerned about on the car or have questions... send your ISA an email and they can help.

And delivery is not at the factory but a parking lot and building across the highway...

Sounds good. I think ACH would be fine. I already have the cashiers check so too late for me. Maybe next time for the Model Y

We will see how it goes today. Super curious if it’s gonna be rush rush or like @MissyMcBee. I like the folder with all the rebate information.

No matter what Tesla does, some are going to be upset.

Most new owners want their cars nicely washed and shiney on delivery, but others do not want anyone to touch their cars, expecially the lot guy.

Until Tesla gets up to speed on all these deliveries it would be expected that some areas are under more time pressure than others. If a bunch of people are anxiously awaiting delivery, they will need to expedite those deliveries. Where it is not so busy, they can take a bit more time with the new owners.

Believe that Tesla has a good idea with having every one watch some detailed videos prior to picking up their cars. This would be much more relaxing than getting a short delivery speech. You can watch at your own speed and feel comfortable with the features and controls of your Tesla prior to arriving for delivery.

While there is often a lot of anxiety when picking up a new Tesla, the car itself has the capabilities of teaching the new owner all about its features. The learning curve is steep, but also quite quick.

Most people can go to a rental car place, and get on their way without a long presentation and go over. Only critical things that need to be shown to a new customer is how to un lock the car, plug and unplug, and how to put it into gear. The rest comes pretty naturally.

Fremont Delivery Experience for a Saturday in July

I have to admit I am a little biased because I was excited about getting the car so here goes:

We had a 4:30 pm appointment but was actually seen at 6 pm. I arrived there at 12:30 pm (my fault) because I am the kind of person where you tell me no and that means "maybe". I was requesting an earlier slot for Saturday but my ISA said that no earlier appointments until 4:30 pm.

Fremont was a mad house with tons of people waiting for their cars. I wouldn't say there were lines out the door but the center was definitely full. I probably saw the coffee pot getting replaced at least 10 times when I was there. My wife noted that the restrooms were horrible and they should have hired someone to keep things clean (1 hour later someone in a non-tesla uniform is cleaning lol).

I would say Tesla was about a good 1.5 hours behind in their appointments. The employees were hustling walking fast and working hard. I have no doubt the problem was not a lack of effort. I can't see the employees keeping up this pace everyday. I hope the weekday deliveries or not as hectic.

I noticed the car appeared in my Tesla app at my appointment time 4:30 pm so I walked outside to take my time (Tesla was behind) checking out the car. The car looked amazing but I did find some small cosmetic issues. About four paint chips small in size but noticeable, frunk slightly misaligned, rear quarter panel on passenger side sticking out a bit (not obvious but when comparing to other M3 you can tell), and some the drivers door trim not lined but with rear door trim. At a distance you really could not tell the car had any cosmetic issues but when inspect the car and you are the one paying 60K then yes, you will notice it.

I was crossing my fingers I would get a good delivery specialist but that was not the case. I was walked to my car, offered to take a pic, was told to sit in the drivers seat and we would create a driver profile. He showed me the trunk (only because I wanted to put my backpack in there). The DS did show me how to adjust the mirrors and seat and then said to feel free to play around with the settings but don't drive off yet and he would be back (He never came back!). I sat there for 35 minutes and nothing. I finally tracked him down inside the center and he was trying to get the temporary registration as that team was backed up as well. Finally got it and then we documented my cosmetic concerns.

I overheard other DS going over most of the functions in detail and had a good demeanor about them. I saw other DS pointed out this and that about other peoples cars but that was not the case for me. Even though I knew a lot about the car already and am a Tesla fan I did feel somewhat neglected especially after paying 60k. I have gotten a more detailed explanation about my Weber Genesis grill at Orchard Supply in comparison to my car LOL. I think its the luck of the draw when it comes to getting that good delivery experience.

Don't get me wrong I am happy with the car and being at the Tesla Delivery Center. In Fresno we have no Tesla Service Center so it was a treat for me. Like I said I am a bit biased. Part of me was like just give me the key card and I will figure out the rest and part of me wanted to be shown most of features even though I knew already.

The car looks amazing!! This is the best car I have ever driven and my first EV. I am super impressed and am looking forward to our road trips. Autopilot calibrated at 38 miles. The car i received has a July 2018 build and had 11 miles on it. My first supercharge visit was my wife's favorite at the Gilroy Outlets.

Thank you to all of the forum members as you are a special group of support.

You showed up at 12:30 for a 4:30 slot? o_O

Rest rooms were a lot cleaner earlier in the day.
Yeah public transportation lol. I showed up early assuming slim chance of being seen early but not. We spent day in Fremont via Lyft.

Actually at 12:30 restrooms were bad but later when I came back around 2:45 we noticed a cleaning person in uniform taking care of the place.

Lots of snacks and coffee which was nice.
