Video and data blackbox for my Model S

Hi all,

I've finally finished building the framework to automatically make blackbox videos using the dashcams in my S with data overlays recorded on every drive using my phone and a CAN bus adapter.

Currently working on a standalone version that doesn't require tapping two buttons on the phone before every drive (not that that's a huge impediment...).

All you need is this:
- A white panda panda OBD-II Interface | comma.ai shop
- An adapter cable to convert the Tesla CAN port to OBDII: Tesla CAN Diagnostic Cable (Sept 2015 and up) – Crimped OBD-II – Maxwell Automotive Technologies
- The TesLAX app: ‎tesLAX - CANBus Explorer
- USB sticks for the dashcam footage

Then, the yet to be released parts:
- My TesLAX preset so all the required parameters are recorded
- The scripts creating the movies from the video files and the data

Start with the first four points and get them working. By that time I might have released my software.

I still have MCU1 and AP2, will get them upgraded to MCU2 and AP3 end of this month.
Once done I'll try with your suggested hardware and see what I can get out of it...

edit: tesLAX CANBus explorer is iPhone only. I have Android...

I'm working on a system that will log the entire CAN bus data stream. That's still a while away though.

I've put all my processing scripts into the following git: InsideSystems/TeslaBlackbox includes the TesLAX TLPs for the Model S. This does summary stats in terminal, plotting of graphs, and video overlay production (albeit without the special font I'm using as I don't own the rights to that).
