Are you guys looking at getting a protective film put on the car ? Got some quotes on SunTek and XPEL... looking a $1800 to $5000 for full wrap... ugh.

I’d love to get the front wrapped and then the whole thing treated with Opti-Coat Pro, but it’s hard to justify the added cost.

If anything I’ll do the Opti-Coat but even that is a tough sell to me.

I had my Model S Opti-Coayed. I don't think it did squat. The front wrapped was only $700 and well worth it. I had SunTek done at Ghost Shield in Thousand Oaks, CA.

Current owner, Orange County, CA, waited in line on 3/31/2016: Never received invite email but checked my Tesla Account on 12/22 and found the configuration option available. Selected Blue, with 19" wheels. Completed my configuration and paid the deposit on 12/27. Check my Tesla Account again on 01/02 and found VIN 200X assigned. Again, no emails. Waiting for my delivery date. Also surprised my VIN is low when other are receiving deliveries of VIN 3000 +

Same location as you, also current owner, line waiter. I configured on 12/8, received email that day. You should have also received a phone call also from a delivery specialist, although I had to call them the first time since they were busy. VIN 23xx assigned the same day I made the appt for delivery, 12/22.
I suspect maybe your email and phone is not correct in your MyTesla account or there is some other glitch that they didn't initiate mails or calls to you. Stretching it here, but maybe your VIN was assigned based on your location, prior ownership and reservation date, not when you configured. You may have had dates as early as mine if you would have known to configure earlier but you received no notice.
If I were you I would call Tesla to find out who and contact your delivery specialist.

Still no VIN for my 12/24 order (Black) for SoCal delivery... they originally quoted me 4 weeks estimated delivery, but after ordering and paying the timelines go away. At this point, I'm 2+ weeks in and no VIN. 4 weeks is looking unlikely...

The only thing I wonder about is in my order, where finance is still listed as Pending (I'm using outside financing).

I did call the number on the page and got my delivery specialist's name (Robert Peters out of Van Nuys) so I may hear something back from him.

I wouldn’t worry about the pending financing. If you are using an outside lender, they will need a purchase order to finalize the loan and issue the check. This all gets done right at the end, so does not impact VIN issuance or production of your car. Your car may already be built and sitting in a lot and will just take some time to be matched to you. Perhaps this explains the seeming randomness of the VIN issuances.

I configured on 1/4 and am awaiting a VIN. No phone call from my DS, but am not concerned. There may be nothing to report. If my VIN takes too much longer, I’ll probably touch base. Even with regular contact with my DS for my S purchase, it was a moving target.

Only took me slightly over 3 weeks from configuration to delivery. Maybe my configuration is just popular. I did, unfortunately, get a low VIN #.

Congrats!

Not knowing anything about car manufacturing, I assumed that a lower VIN meant an earlier production. I was following some other threads on the Tesla forum and it seems that they are not sequential in that way. It is possible to have an earlier VIN, but actually be produced after a later VIN.

If anyone can speak with any authority on this, please feel free to chime.
