VIN posted this afternoon. Potential rejected vehicle?

I ordered MY on 6/26. The VIN has appeared today 6/30 on the order page without needing to view the source code. Looking at the spread sheet, the VIN numbers are over 20,0xx, however this VIN is 12,7XX. Does this mean this vehicle was potentially rejected from someone else's order? I dont believe there is a way to determine the build date from the VIN.

Yes.

BTW, my answer is baseless and without merit..

No one here can tell you. You need to show up and take a look in person. You created unnecessary anxiety for yourself. Can't blame you, i blame the forum.

I placed an order on 6/28 and a delivery specialist texted me on 6/30 with VIN number and reminded me to finish updating my payment option. I asked her for more information about the low VIN (8xxx), and she said that all she could tell me was that it was built in June 2020.

If you are not in rush, I would make a change to have a Trailer Hitch option, to be sure I get a more recent built.

If you can get a hold of anyone at Tesla, they can tell you the exact day it was built. For example, the delivery folks said mine rolled off the line TODAY and has a VIN of 21xxx. That's nowhere near the highest, but the car is still warm from the oven.

I reconfigured order for MY on 05/27. Got text notification delivery date moved to July 3rd. Then got call today saying MY is enroute to the delivery center and can pick-up at 7:30pm, June 30th. I declined and asked for a mid-day delivery schedule to allow for ample daylight to inspect vehicle.

mY was assigned VIN 15xxx, forgot to ask about build date. however, the Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement sheet indicates the MY was accepted by customer on 02/27/2020 and Odometer reads 15miles. Is this a previously rejected MY?!?? Did anyone get a MY with zero miles at delivery?

Get some sleep, don’t have to post the same question on multiple threads - 15 is the default for ppwk purposes.

Um, you accepted your configuration in February. Nothing to see here.

VINs are non-sequential. Vehicles built and delivered near the same time in May were anywhere from 017xx to 17xxx. The only way you’ll be able to reason at all about the build date of your vehicle is asking a Tesla employee or viewing the sticker on the door jamb.

While I believe that 15 is the default mileage, I actually had 15 miles on mine when I took delivery. None of the cars has zero since they get test drives after production.

I took delivery of a 12XXXVIN on Sunday 6/28. The car was stunning. Only issue was passenger rear door needed adjustment for black out trim to be perfect. The charging port seemed misaligned in the back but was given the "within spec" line. The paint was beautiful (Solid Black).

The difference in my situation is that my VIN showed up in early June before it was even produced. Hope this helps.

Looks like it was definitely someone’s rejected vehicle. Delivery date was assigned today for a pick up tomorrow at noon along with the MVPA called them to verify as I had received no updates regarding anything and they confirmed the vehicle was there but then placed a service hold on it to fix something. They stated they will give me a call back. No call back but now my MVPA is gone and the delivery date was changed to July 8.

So.. what are you going to do now off this hunch?

Nothing. Hoping that if true, the issues are resolved. This will be my first Tesla. I have an electrician coming to install my wall connector Monday, so my biggest concern on initial delivery was I wouldn’t have reliable charging for a couple of days. Now it lines up perfectly.

Love that I ordered in July 2019 and haven’t heard a word but people ordering a day ago get a VIN. Great...

They don’t build VINs in exact order. Your Tesla rep can tell you the build date of a specific VIN. Anything within the last few weeks to newer are pretty good. It looks like Tesla had a rough patch for 2 weeks after reopening the factory. If it’s the car you want, go see it. Most issues can be corrected fine, major stuff may justify passing on the vehicle. Tesla is pretty good about it if you reject for a legitimate reason. I know the guys at my local SC are doing their best to be proactive on any issues they see coming in and try to correct stuff if they need to, even if it means rescheduling delivery. They're doing a pretty good job of cleaning the cars before delivery. It seems some locations are not and are unloading them from the transport, pulling off the plastic wrap then handing them to customers as is.

If the MVPA disappeared, it could be for a variety of reasons. They could be assigning a different car or addressing issues with the one first assigned to you. All things the delivery advisor should be able to tell. Best advice is to go see the car and if it's not to your liking, tell them to try again.

I rejected my first delivery during the end of the quarter rush due to paint paint defects and panel gaps. I specifically told them I am not accepting the vehicle and to assign me a new VIN. They just contacted me to pick up the same VIN next week. I don''t even know what to say anymore.
