I think it'd be useful to keep track of them or at least delivery dates to see if it is an issue to a specific batch of 3s. I'm worried now about my performance 3 . Hey, maybe when my normal bumper falls off the next one they put on will actually have the spoiler and badging

Wow that is just odd, I wonder what VIN number are these model 3 happening to. Hopefully it's an isolated incident.

I probably don't have to worry about this since I'm in California and we literally have no rain for the last 5 months. (But our entire state is on fire like literally tho ugh)

I'm confused. Aren't bumpers supposed to have some 5mph or 10mph crash rating where they don't deform. I've never seen a bumper not bolted on? Are they glued on and the glue just dissolves in the rain? WTF?

The story that I got from reddit is this: The issue is when driving through standing water. There is a fabric material in the wheel well that saturates with water and tears. This somehow funnels more water up and in front of the rear bumper, causing it to act like a parachute and tearing it off.

I would assume snow would be suspect then too.

Hmmm. I’m supposed to take delivery in less than 2 weeks and my IDA has stopped responding when she was super responsive previously. I wonder if a major recall is coming or something. There was another thread about multiple delivery date delays at marina del Rey.

That's one to fix before they start delivering to the UK, eh?

This was the weather for 23 Aug 2015 (British Summer weather)

Are Tesla Model 3 Rear Bumpers Falling Off In The Rain?

FROM THE REDDIT LOST BUMPER THREAD
"A little research says that instead of using a plastic under panel they are using some sort of fiber one (note that Jeep is doing the same thing now,"

"BMW uses some type of paper fiber or cardboard type material for their undercarriage."

"Ford focus belly pan is fiber, looks like compacted flannel, wheel wells are same in other cars I've seen"

Am I looking at the bumper hanging off the back of the car ?
It looks similar to my bumper but I cannot identify the piece on the bottom or the lines on each side.

I would suppose it depends on both the speed of the car and the depth of the water.
Drove through standing water at high speed today, bumper still attached :)
    [edit to fix auto correct]

Reading the threads it seems to occur in rain or with water. They report that there is some kind of fabric lining underneath that if there is a defect allows water to get trapped.
