Voice Command not working

FWIW I haven't had voice command issues since 4.5. Back then it would work for a while then stop working, and it took a center screen reboot to fix.

It's been perfect for me on all 5.x variants I've had...

Voice commands have not been working for me for awhile. I've given up using them. Still on 5.6.

Voice commands currently don't work for me. I don't use them much so it hasn't been a big deal. But Murphy's Law, I first noticed the problem when a good friend (and serious potential buyer) was test driving my car.

5.8.4 no worky.

It did Once Upon A Time but I did't use it enough to have learned how to use it. Have tried since and couldn't figure out how to get it started so I gave up.

I'm on 5.6 and i am experiencing the voice command issue others have noted. I called the Rockville, MD service center last night and the tech said he would look into it and get back to me. While i have not heard back from him, the voice command was working once again this morning.

Just to update my status, my commands suddenly began working again for me. Nothing on my end changed so this must be a back end issue on Tesla's side.

Well this is interesting... I'm the OP and I must have mentioned this to service a few weeks ago, as when I called in today about another issue, they brought it up with me as having reported it.

In any case, Eric at the Rockville Service Center told me that it's an issue on Google's side (they do the processing, as we had surmised), but only affecting our area (DC/MD/VA) for some reason related to security. The expect a permanent fix soon.

Here's the cool part: in the mean time they can send a work-around patch to affected VINs over the air. The caveat is that it won't hold past either a scroll-wheel console reboot, or firmware update. But if that happens you can call and ask them to reapply the patch.

One additional reason why this car-as-a-platform is uber kewl. And why bringing your service folks donuts pays off.

Amazing how a little consideration helps your cause. They've tried 3 times to fix my headliner fraying issues. After the last appt (with the donuts), they told me: We are going to order you a new one to make sure you are happy.

They might have anyway... but it makes asking for small stuff easier as well...

If its lunch time they'll sometimes get a pizza delivered.
