Volt Catches Fire After Being Rear-Ended, But Not From What You'd Think - EVWORLD.COM "collision caused 12V lead-acid battery terminal to contact with metal car body, producing a spark that ignited the carpet. Neither the lithium battery nor the fuel tank were breached."
Meh, big deal. Not news. Who cares about EV fires anymore? 12V battery short is a significant cause of ICE vehicle fires.
Can't help but thinking if this title had been used but the car was a Model S, there would be a lot of outcry over it being very misleading. While factual, the title paints a specific picture of another EV-specific fire.
I think the best approach is, "ignore it, it will go away." People see car fires all the time. I think the news media is already getting bored about it.
If it had been a Model S it would have been covered by the National News Echo Chamber for a least three news cycles.
