Vossen CVT 22x9 and 22x10.5 255/30/22 & 295/25/22 ? RUB?

Hey guys Im new new here so if this has been posted before I apologize.

I hope i Made the right Choice here on tires I just got my vossen CVT directional wheels 22x9 et30 front and 22x10.5 et38 Rear in last week which i am sending out for charcoal Grey powder coat the tires size i bought 255/30 and 295/25 which was recommended by vossen but now im hearing that 245/30 and 285/25 is what i should of went with. has anyone had any RUBBING problems in the front with the 255 on a 22x9 ? My MS will be here april 29th already have appointment for full Xpel clear wrap, tint and black vinyl wrap all the chrome and install wheels, ill post pics.. but for now im stressing out on these damn tires.. :cursing:

i have 22's as well and i have a 22x9 in the front. I have a 255/30/22 on the front and it rubs ever so slightly only in reverse. I would NOT go to a 245/30/22 because you have a weight rating problem. Technically even the 255/30/22 is under spec for max load. My recommendation is to go 255/30/22 in front and 265/30/22 in rear. You could move up to a 285/30/22, but our cars are tuned to handle a certain way and if you create too much of a staggered tire size, the car will likely push under hard cornering. So my recommendation is to stick to a 265 and not go to a bigger size...

285 rear is actually pretty nice, very very good traction, bit light understeered when driving on the edge though, 265 would be more balanced and a bit more efficient (I think my setup uses 10-20% more than the factory 21/19" sets), and I don't think you can put 265 on a 10.5 rim, that rim needs 285 or 295.
I have a 20" set Vossen CV4 front 20x9.0 ET35 with 245/40/20, rear 20x10.5 ET42(+5 spacer) with 285/35/20.
Also realize that with 22" you loose quite some comfort. I know at least one owner that traded in his 22's within 24hrs of use because the ride was too rough.

I think they've reversed their position on that statement. I asked them a few months ago about this exactly and if I recall they said while they initially fit, after they posted those figments they discovered problems later (rubbing) and now don't recommend going that wide in the front.

thats the tire size i was told to go with Roadking, do you have any rubbing at all? what offset are your wheels? my car will be here next week and i need to know if should get new tires sizes or not...GRRRR

I think Ill follow what your doing roadking40 ill just replace the front tires to 245/30/22 and keep 2905/25/22 rear..... do you have any rubbing in rear tires?

Honestly i wouldn't do 245's. The factory setup has a load rating of 1565 lbs per wheel. The 245/30/22 is 1389 lbs per wheel. That's a difference of 352 lbs in the front of the car and that is a lot! There's plenty of room up front for a 255 especially if you push the offset out by 5mm. BTW the 255/30/22 is 1522 lbs but that's pretty close to the factory.

I personally do not mess with tires. A blow out in the front can be a life threatening event at freeway speeds and that's why most reputable tire shops won't even install a under "load range" spec tire. So you may wish to shop around for a shop that's even willing to do it (that should tell you something in itself).

255/30/22 should fit fine; I have them on my CV4s. There was some minor rubbing when turning in reverse at low speeds but we put some spacers on them and it helped.

Hey Fonz. I heard from my guy in SD that you'd ordered your CV4s from him! What a small world. Looks like Logan is running the same as you down in SD with 255/295 front/back. I'm staying with 245s on 8.5"/9" on the front and have the 295-25 already on hand for rears so once Niche confirms whether they recommend 10" or 10.5" on the rears I'll get the 295/25's on and be able to once and for all tell... Since we talked I found out it will take 4-6 weeks for these forged Niche Targa customs wheels to get produced. The best about them is I'll be able to a variety of choices in tires at more reasonable price(s) and best of all, the rims wills range from 24/27lb. each which means ill safe a ton of rotational weight vs my stock 21" and maybe this would increase my range a bit! Will keep in abreast pal. S
