And it can't be late november, can it if you order now? If all of us, VINless people, have to wait till late November, how can new-order people get their in late november as well?

It could be, as I understand it they just woefully misjudged the demand for the different variants and those of us still waiting are waiting because they just didn’t produce enough. If you order a LR AWD today (for example) you may well get it in November along with the rest of us as they will be producing enough to satisfy current demand as well as projected demand.

Delivery: Sydney
Reservation: N/A
Order: June but changed order last dated 16/9
Vehicle: Red Performance white interior

I’ve been following this forum and had my hopes that my Tesla might have come on the Debussy. I got this response from Tesla sales and it doesn’t look like I should expect anything until late Nov.

Here is the email I got from Tesla -

Interesting, we haven’t had any new arrivals lately, we have to wait for all of our Q4 cars to be built, at this stage it looks like they’ll mostly be arriving in the second half of November. We will be assigning lots of VINs once they leave the factory and get on a ship over here.

What do you guys think?

So some but not all. Which is the strategy that actually led to a lot of us who was promised August to be gathering here. Their misjudement seems to become a habit if what your scenario was true.

I think Mr Musk should give the vinless a few thousand kms of extra free supercharging to say sorry for effing you around.
Im embarrassed to have to tell everyone I am almost in month 4 waiting for this thing.
Well, four months after 1250+ days of reservation... that makes it much better

It has become a running joke in my office, and I am sure many other offices around the country. Sure they are selling as many vehicles as the make, but surely alienating hundreds or thousands of potential customers across the country will have some long-term consequences?

My Latest Email from Tesla...

The confusion runs deep at team vinless :)

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your email. I can appreciate how upsetting hearing rumours like the below would be. In terms of December/January delivery that time frame would apply if you were to order a car today. I would be very surprised if your car took that long to arrive.

I can see we don't have a VIN assigned to your order yet which just means your vehicle hasn't landed onshore in Australia. As soon as your vehicle arrives and is assigned we will reach out to finalise your delivery.

The Performance models have been incredibly popular (understandably!) but rest assured we are doing everything we can to expedite deliveries.

Thank you very much for being so patient with us across this process. We're very excited to get you into your P3D!

The staff member is from sales at Chadstone Victoria. I took a demo P3D+ out with her.

Surprised, eh? When a product specialist is saying that Dec/Jan applies to new orders, and the website is saying Late November for that same thing, who are we to trust?
I think that Tesla are fooling themselves. It takes a month for the ships to get from Oakland to Sydney. Let's be generous and say that the vehicles for a given batch take a week to produce and get containerised ready to load. This means that unless the cars are already in transit that the earliest that they could deliver at this point is the 1st December. Considering they can't tell us anything about cars assigned to us, the only conclusion has to be that our cars have not been made yet. This makes "Late November" deliveries, particularly to Melbourne, impossible.

I just wish that they could be honest with themselves and with us and just admit that they have no idea, but that we should count ourselves blessed if they arrive before Christmas. If they don't want us to feel this way, then they should actually invest in a decent logistics function which tracks the vehicle to a customer from the moment that it enters the production mix.

This is what mine said:
We want to thank you for your order and let you know that we are doing everything we can to get your car to you as quickly as possible. Due to unprecedented demand, we are currently experiencing a limited supply of Model 3 Long Range variants which is affecting both Performance and LR Dual Motor orders. Once we have confirmation your vehicle is on its way from the US, we can confirm your delivery date. Expect this date to be around the late-November period. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we appreciate your patience.

Best Regards,

People with SR+ orders may still be in luck.

Every email is saying mid to late-November although unless they have magical dream ships with unicorns that seems unlikely.

This seems a more likely case of the VINs of the car are added late November and estimated delivery times and the cars are delivered late December although it may be written in a way to expect the delivery date to be around mid-late November. Who knows, everyone at Tesla must have failed English or something.

Alternatively using my extensive knowledge, research and common sense.
TESLA HASN'T GOT A ****ING CLUE WHERE THE CARS ARE.

I work in an industry that leads to a lot of disposable income which people tend to spend on fancy cars and a number are looking at EV’s. quite a number have said to me that they won’t touch Tesla’s due to quality and service issues, I have always defended them but to be honest I have totally given up. It is now the running joke at work just how long my car has taken since I reserved 3 years ago and ordered 3 months ago and I still haven’t got a clue when the car will arrive, to make matters worse another colleague who had no reservation and ordered a couple of weeks after me is now driving his new white on white P+ around which is leading lots of people to ask exactly how Tesla are delivering these things as ‘you ordered yours 3 years ago, didn’t you?.

I am now just telling people that all the rumours of a chaotic company appear to be true and if I could get the Model 3 from elsewhere I would as Tesla have totally ruined this experience for me which is a shame as it is the first new car I have ever purchased.

It is not the delay as such but the fact they just keep stringing me along. First the estimated date of August, then the txt in July to say ‘your car is on the way, we will be reaching out to you shortly’, then another txt saying high demand and ‘we will get you your car shortly’, then we expect a ‘September’ delivery, then the Sales lady told me early October at the latest with the head of sales saying the first batch of LR AWD’s would be delivered in early October and now they are saying ‘whoops, we meant late November’.

In the mean time I am renting a crappy run about, my finance has expired (Tesla told me to go ahead with the preapproval so I would be ready to go when invoiced) so I have to go through that process again and my Wife is saying ‘this is rediculous, just cancel the bloody thing and let’s go and buy another LEAF and get a Tesla Model Y in 5 years once they have sorted heir *sugar* out’ :-(

DanBoy, if you can afford to wait, you should stick around with us.Your colleagues have no idea. And if you ordered an SR+, you should be in a better situation than a lot of us. But if you have to let go, I guess mid next year the situation should be a lot better.

Apparently, at least two people have managed to take delivery of P3D+ in Melbourne. Found these charging at the local shopping centre, I suspect they are running ride sharing with them since I used to see a couple of Model X with the same plates and always charging in the evening.

I am going to hang on in there, after driving my mates M3 there is no way I am not getting this car, just the wait is killing me :)
