Never had this before - rather dangerous.
Happened repeatedly over a kilometre of route I travel regularly
    Hopefully fixed with an update
    Just beware!

Just imagine if it was a robo-taxi.

Would you like to expand on this a bit? What are the circumstances of it disengaging?

Australian updates are very different to US updates. You may not have the same problem.

Autosteer is engaged. Then it suddenly disengages, on its own
    Dry sunny road

No chime? No warning on the screen?

Just the normal chime when it disengages. No prior warning

Assuming you didnt tug the steering wheel too hard, i would call service center.

I must have my hands on the steering wheel here in US, perhaps I am mistaken as I assumed this was the case everywhere.

I would imagine this would be a significant issue if you took your hands off the wheel, but thankfully, you would have your hands on the wheel the whole time, along with paying full attention to the road as per the manual and messages that come up on the display when engaging autopilot.

does it happen at the same spot on the road? (I only ask bcos there is one road that I travel frequently that all of a sudden opens up a left turn lane at the time the divided highway ends, so Autopilot gets confused and says 'Take over'.

And you would be wrong, as it can happen on a curve on a narrow road, as happened to me with hands on the wheel

The system is not providing a warning to takeover. It disengages, reverting back to TACC

Ok, so you originally post a very incomplete description of the issue. People speculate to try to fill in the gaps, or reach out to help. You complain they got it wrong (somewhat condescendingly, it appears). And so your purpose here is ... what precisely?

No, they got it wrong in a certain instance
It’s also amazing how people struggle to grasp an infinitesimally simple concept of ‘autosteer disengaging itself’. And they go fishing for other reasons

Since we appear to be in a thread where nit-picking is all there is, an "infinitesimally small concept" is one that doesnt exist, or is perhaps "the ghost of a departed concept" (deliberate mis-quote of Berkeley). No wonder others here are confused. :)

    *dong ding* - engaged
    *ding dong* - disengaged
And that’s dumbing it down to beyond infinitesimal...
