From this thread, it could be months before my original pack comes back. So the loaner pack makes sense.

I have heard of many cases where the original pack does not seem to return as they had their "loaner pack" for over a year or more.

That does seem to be possible. I've read of 8-10 months.
In my case, the lease ends in September, so they'll have to deal with it. As long as the loaner pack gives me good range, am ok with it.

Getting my car back today, Dublin Service Center going above and beyond (thank you David!) to make me whole, because of the unique circumstances.

Car is back. Have not checked the loaner pack's serial, will do that tomorrow.

Got a voice mail from the Service Center this week: my battery pack is back and ready to be installed.
My week has been nuts, and I haven't even called them back yet.

I cant imagine the cost to ship your pack out rebuild return it?
That just seems to be very very expensive, past cost of just shipping new one.

I've been thinking the same thing. But I am not an operations specialist.

Called them, they called me back. Told them about how it would be peachy if the battery pack was closer to me.
One call back later: they are shipping my pack from Tesla Dublin to Tesla San Francisco.

In the end, I had to call the San Francisco store to make them realize that pack sitting there was mine. The pack just showed up, and they had not ordered one, so they did not know what to do with this out-of-band process.
I dropped my car off a few days later just before last week's business trip. Picked up my car with its original pack (now minty fresh) this past Saturday. All is well, all good!
