My first post here. The following was posted yesterday on the Tesla Model 3 forum. The Jeda USB hub installed in my M3 failed unexpectedly and dramatically. The failure happened while the car was parked overnight. Upon entering the vehicle, there was an odor of burnt electronics in the cabin. At first, I thought one of the M3 electrical components had failed, however, I tracked it down to the Jeda USB hub. You can see from the picture that the Jeda circuit board is badly charred. This could have started a fire, and I want to alert other Jeda USB hub owners. I purchased this hub when it was first introduced a year or two ago. It is the model with two USB-A ports.
No reply from Jeda as of 02 Feb 2021. A Samsung T5 SSD was plugged into the internal/hidden storage space of the hub, and a dual wireless cell phone charger was plugged into one of the external USB ports. These devices had been working with the hub for over a year with no problems. After removing the hub, I plugged these devices directly into the M3 USB ports, and they continue to work as before.
The good news is, this is the first I have heard of this issue. I hate to say it, but this could happen with almost anything electrical. Glad nothing was seriously damaged.
I had exactly the same configuration and was starting to receive the USB Malfunction message, and although Jeda offered me a $20 discount on a newer unit, I opted for a new Taptes hub and it works flawlessly. I'm even more convinced this may have been the right decision now.
It's kinda funny that Jeda keeps saying that Taptes copies their products and such. Sure, copying is wrong, but when the copy makes a better product than the original... then something is off there. But we haven't really seen the long term reliability of Taptes USB hubs, so we will see how that goes for them.
somewhat related. If anyone is looking for Taptes, I bought this on amazon and it comes in the Taptes box haha. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08N1BY2JD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's ok.. the majority of us here are fluent in US Auto Correct. Given the huge number of posts regarding Jeda's horrible customer service, it is not (unfortunately) surprising that you haven't heard back from them.
The TMC admin (Danny) sent me a private message last Friday. Jeda contacted the admin claiming that they never heard from me. I responded to the admin with the original e-mail text. Hopefully, it will be passed along to Jeda.
Well I guess I might have to be selling my Jeda hub... been noticing the dashcam not working lately, and have to jiggle/slightly pull then push the entire hub then the dashcam will pop up. It’s about 2 year old hub now.
Jeda is not a reputable company. Just take a quick glance at the many complaints against them on the BBB site. (including mine) If you're lucky enough to get any kind of response from them, it's certainly not timely. They lie. They promise things that are never delivered. Their products are overpriced, and now apparently, defective. For them to contact the TMC site admin and claim the OP didn't contact them is rich. My money is on kwpsd. Jeda are proven liars. Do business with them at your own risk. Continue using their products at your own risk.
