It was a drawing by an artist who guessed that was what the Model S was going to look like, based on the roadster styling and some other factors.
Yup Was my first reaction back then too. I still have hopes a future sports car would look as aggressive.

I think it would be perfect for the current Model S. Or since that ship has sailed (and presumably the Model X has as well), the Gen 3. For the next gen Roadster I'm hoping for something more "Supercar," a la McLaren. 3.0 0-60 and 250 ideal-mile range. McLaren P1 to cost $1.15 million - MSN Autos But I'd settle for something like the Pariss. Pariss EV Roadster Pictures and Photos of the Pariss Roadster
You know you're right, that would make for a great gen 3 design looks great and smaller than the model s while still being a 4 door
It looks like a Nissan Z. And the front section, though nice, is too different from the Model S. So it will not be used for the Roadster II. Tesla-models will from now on have a lot of similarities, a common design language, and this doesn't fit in with that.
Wow, side-by-side it looks pretty similar indeed, glad that Franz went in a different direction with the design. Far better now...
