Washington State: Model S Plaid/LR waiting room

Hello from Redmond! First post here and this is my first Tesla - I'm going all-in with a Plaid S on order. šŸ˜€

As I'm new to all this, I would really appreciate some advice from the more experienced owners out there on the following questions:-

1. My delivery date has changed a few times already - initially it was June - August, then October - January, now it's saying June 15 - July 27. I note that you have to be able to take delivery within 3 days of the date they give you, but the wide timescales and changes are making it difficult to plan trips away. Now that I have dates, is the timescale locked in? (RN1171*) Do they really just sell the car to someone else if you can't take it within a 3 day window and if so, what happens to your order?

2. I just got an estimate to install the wall charger from Custom Electrical Services, one of the Tesla recommended installers. I will need to replace the subpanel in the garage to handle the 60A load, so they need to run cable to the main house panel about 50ft away. The total is $6,575 which seems pretty high to me. Is that in the ballpark or should I get more quotes? Can anyone recommend a good electrician?

3. The trade-in value they gave me is $7k below KBB value ($38.5k vs $45.5k). Do they typically low-ball? I'd prefer to trade-in and get the tax credit, but at that value it doesn't make sense.

4. At delivery, if you find any issues, are you able to reject the car right away? I read that once you unlock the car with the app, it is considered to be accepted. If that's true how would you deal with any interior quality issues?

5. Any recommendations for wrapping specialists on the Eastside?

Many thanks in advance! :)
6k for electrician is too much to me. I installed a 240V outlet for Tesla wall charger. Cost me around 140$. Been charging my Tesla Y for over 2 yrs. Work great.

I wanted to get folks thoughts on what I should do here. I ordered in Dec 21 and somehow had a vin assigned in like 3 weeks. At that time we really hadnā€™t decided on the color and weā€™re debating between grey and black. I called Tesla to change it to black and got a date of July. In the last 7 weeks I have had 7 delivery dates. The latest is May 7 th to jun 11. I am on vacation from 29th to May 7th and wonā€™t be able to take the car if the windows is that week. Should I role the dice and Hope it does not come through or put a hold(how does that work)? What happens if I cannot take the car if the vin is assigned the second time? Tesla said they would cancel my order.
How's that possible unless you ordered a Plaid. I ordered a S LR since May 2021 and I am still waiting.

Wish I could get it done for $140! Half the cost of my $6.5k estimate is "Supply/install 100 amp 120/240 volt 1 phase sub-panel -
$3,295.00" o_O

I need to get it done asap though - I just got my VIN today and the delivery is this week. That came up a lot faster than expected!

New hereā€¦ordered 5/13 a black on white LR with no FSD. My original estimate was November - January and had one blip that brought the delivery up to May, which then reset back.

Today I received a VIN for delivery this week (NF4768ā€¦).

Should I be worried this is an earlier VIN? Really wasnā€™t expecting to take delivery so soon.

That VIN seems fairly recent to me. My delivery was late March with VIN NF4747

Well, after 32 days of maintaining a 99 safety score, I got the dreaded FCW and there was no impending obstacle that threatened my MSLR. Absolutely ruined my day and dropped my safety score to 97. Have any of you trying to get FSD beta approval actually gotten approved? I made it through one month but heard nothing, and now will have to drive carefully for another month until the FCW disappears.
Well both FCWā€™s gone and beta score now back to 99. Anyone approved for beta FSD?

Yes, make sure you have at least 100 miles of Autosteer. See thread I started here when I did not get it at first:

Basically we figured you need the 100 miles using AP. So I drove 175 miles AP on Sunday with 2022 S and got the FSD Beta later that night. I then drove about 78 miles AP on Monday with the 2018 S and got the Beta about 30 minutes later. I assume it already had some AP miles.

I just woke up to my EDD moved out from Sep-Nov to Nov-Jan. Such a bummer. I have been keeping an eye on inventory and it looks like literally no LRs ever come up in the inventory at all while there are always at least 8-15 Plaids up for grabs. I wonder if it is because of slower production or if they're just not prioritizing LR production.

Yes because you paid less for your car. Why would they hurry up and make your car so they can lose money.

Thanks, just back from trip to Oregon with most of trip on Autopilot, but so far no beta approval. Hopefully soon.

Wow, I just got approved for FSD beta. Looking forward to getting my first drive in after reading all the material.
Glad you got it! It's both fun and scary at the same time :).

It's a much more aggressive driver than I normally am. Especially when it comes to unprotected left turns, which I have turning into my street.

Some issues I have encountered:
- There is a left slip turn yield on a road near me that for some reason the car turns to right turn lane instead of taking the left slip, even though the route shows to turn left. I intervened, so not sure what it would have done if I did nothing. That was my first drive. Need to try it again now that have a little more experience.
- There is a no-right on red LED sign between PCC and my house. It always tries to turn on red there. Filed a bug report.
- It creeps to far into the road when trying to turn from stop sign into traffic. Especially when turning left. I am not surprised since the cameras are on the pillars and I need to lean forward to see down the road in some cases. I think the cameras are in the wrong place! No idea how they plan to fix that with software only.
- I find trying to hold the yoke when it is making sharp turns a real pain. I tend to just let go otherwise it disengages, however that means it's not easy to get control back if needed in a hurry. Trying to grab a rotating rectangle is not as easy as a round wheel.

For the most part it does a pretty decent job though.

I got approved earlier this week but my score was a 93. I wasnā€™t expecting to get approved and just completely forgot about the score for the last 3 months.

I do have to say that FSD is a bit nerve racking. Making turns at intersections are so slow and choppy.

My first attempt to turn on FSD beta was unsuccessful. I initially got Autopilot temporarily unavailable message after putting in navigation route. When it finally turned on, it acted erratically and did not work correctly driving down the street where I live off the Interurban trail. It kept wanting to drive outside the lines on the road, which made me disengage FSD. Not sure what is going on but I am a bit disappointed in this initial experience. Hopefully it will improve.

Some folks mention you need to re-calibrate your cameras if something odd like that happens. Suggestion is to do it just before getting on freeway, then drive in center lane for a long while. You then need to re-enable autopilot, FSD, etc. Hopefully that helps!

Having used FSD beta for about a week, Iā€™d say that itā€™s gonna be several years before I get comfortable relying on this tech. Itā€™s basically overly confident in areas where it shouldnā€™t be and extremely indecisive in situations where confidence is critical. I donā€™t think Iā€™ve gone 1 min without disengaging it for some reason.

Tesla is really lowballing on trade in. They're offering 35k for my 2020 model Y šŸ˜€
Same with end of lease valuation. I decided to buyout my lease when it expired (after multiple extensions) in Dec 2021. Primary reason is they valued my 2018 S at 45k, yet I could sell it for about 60k.

When my new 2022 S finally arrived in March my wife had grown to like the 2018 S and decided we should keep it, which was a good idea considering gas prices. She is especially appreciating it now with the pre-cooling before getting into the car :).

She was sad to see her 2016 Sonata go, since she and I both think the interior ergonomics and comfort of the Sonata is better than the Model S. Even more so than the 2022 S. I still don't like the yoke and lack of stalks, it has failed to grow on me.
