I don't think this is fixable by replacing the rubber gasket. The water is running down the rear window fast enough that it can "jump" the gap between window and gasket. "Sheeet" indeed.

I do not have water running in my trunk. There was a new gasket upgrade at some point in time.

Do you have a picture of this new gasket? I have seen water running into the trunk of my 8/2018 build just as in Bjorn's video. I don't really see how a different gasket could avoid that and still fit under the trunk lid.

Mine is 9/2018 build and just experienced "Sheeet" moment a few days ago in Socal.

Mine is a 8/2018 build. Wilmington has had a record rainfall and I have not gotten any water in my trunk.

Be glad you don't leave your 3 in the rain with the trunk not all the way shut (even though car says it is shut.)
Then you end up with an "oh F moment".

Note, the felt under the trunk liner can absorb a lot of water that drips on it over time. If you press down hard on the bottom of the trunk you can find the hidden puddle.

It has been raining quite a bit this week in SoCal so I have tested this a few times when it was raining. I got like 1 or 2 drops in and that's about it. My trunk is dry.

I have a theory that to some extent the different experiences could be explained by how thoroughly you wash your car. If your car is waxed or coated, water on the trunk lid will bead and then run onto the rear window if you open the trunk. If there is no wax/coating, most of the water will run off so there is less build-up.

Most people that drive a sedan know to open the trunk slowly to let the water run off on a controlled manner as such to not pour into the trunk. (At least I always had to do that in my prior ICE sedans. Though some were better than the Model 3.)

Ok I see what may be happening. He is lifting the trunk up very fast. Most times, when I lift my trunk up, it is slowly so the water has a chance to drip at a better angle of approach.

Ya. I wouldn’t open my trunk that fast. Common sense. Work with the flawed design.

I wonder if folks treated their glass with Rain-X or something makes the rain run down the glass too fast.
There are better things to worry about than this one for sure.
