Do you have a picture of this new gasket? I have seen water running into the trunk of my 8/2018 build just as in Bjorn's video. I don't really see how a different gasket could avoid that and still fit under the trunk lid.I do not have water running in my trunk. There was a new gasket upgrade at some point in time.

Be glad you don't leave your 3 in the rain with the trunk not all the way shut (even though car says it is shut.)

Note, the felt under the trunk liner can absorb a lot of water that drips on it over time. If you press down hard on the bottom of the trunk you can find the hidden puddle.
