This one got missed, and I was there a week ago scouting for Level2 charging before the del Lago Casino opened. It looks to be almost ready, Credit goes out to "Bob" and his volt on plugshare for discovering this! There are also 4 free chargepoint stations in the parking garage. I drove all around this place a week ago and can't believe I missed it, I wasn't looking for a supercharger since Syracuse and Rochester are close. This is close to I-90, exit 41, north side of the thruway. I've email the info to supercharge.info
That's really interesting, given Rochester/Victor, NY. But, 100 miles from Buffalo, so nice spacing that way. Looks like a good one for the finger lakes region. I notice that there're no cables on the stalls yet, so I presume so transformer either. Tip for New Englanders: if traveling westbound on I-90 the Junius Ponds Travel Plaza between exits 41 and 42 has a Dunkin' Donuts. For my wife it was like an oasis in a desert.
I love when these locations just "pop" without anyone seeing them in permits months before. Gives me renewed hope that out in the sparsely populated I-86 and I-80 corridors that Tesla elves are hard at work.
Is this in the parking lot of some new establishment? Google shows what looks like a construction site. Is this where the casino is being built? Just on the other side of the Thruway from the Petro Plaza correct?
The casino opened this past Wednesday. It is on the south side of the Thruway. The OP said the superchargers were on the north side of the Thruway. The exit number mentioned, Exit 41, is the same exit one would take to get to the casino. It sounds like the superchargers are near, but not at, the casino.
Strange selection. Not even on the 2017 map. Only 30 miles ether direction to another supercharger. Did the casino owners ask for it? To put it into perspective, there's still a 100 mile gap traveling from NYC to Canada.
It's not --AT-- the casino, so I can't imagine the casino owners asked for it. I don't think anyone could walk from the Supercharger to the casino. I also think "30 miles in either direction" is an exaggeration. Syracuse is closer to 40 miles away than 30, and I expect the permitted Rochester Supercharger is at least that far away.
To the Victor site is 32.9 miles according to Google Maps. Maybe Tesla will decide that the Victor site is not necessary? Then again, relative proximity to I-390 may also play into the Victor decision.
According to this article, it is at the Casino or just a few feet from it on the NORTH side of the thruway: New del Lago casino has something few resorts have, a burial ground Second paragraph: "The small family graveyard is tucked at the rear of the $440 million project's front parking lot off Route 414 in Tyre, sandwiched between construction trailers and the newly installed Tesla electric car charging stations."
Well, unless the Tesla charging stations the article is referring to are the HPWCs that are supposed to be on the property.
True, I might venture out there Sunday to check out the story. I'll definitely be out there with my wife and friends on the 17th, but we'll probably know by then
Yep, here now, definitely at the Casino. Is this the only Supercharger in the world on Casino grounds? I guess since SC isn't free anymore for new owners, why not have it at a place like this Transformer not in yet, so maybe a few more weeks...
I checked out the parking garage where they have 6 level 2 ports, the place was jammed with people, I fully expected those to be iced because they are fairly close to the door, I plugged in for a bit to test them out, none were iced! The signs only say "Electric Vehicle Charging Station", so... wow! As I was leaving, a lady in her gasser turned on her turn signal, to take my spot, as I looked in my rear view as I was driving away, she turned off her signal and drove on by, amazing. People are starting to get it, possibly...
The one near Tulsa, OK is at a Cherokee Hard Rock Casino. Maybe we'll see more at casinos. The amount you're expected to lose during a 45 minute stop may be more than the cost of the electricity they provide.
