Supercharger - Waterloo, NY

Strange selection. Not even on the 2017 map. Only 30 miles ether direction to another supercharger. Did the casino owners ask for it? To put it into perspective, there's still a 100 mile gap traveling from NYC to Canada.

I popped down to see friends in lower NY state this weekend. Was blasting up through Syracuse and then over to Buffalo last night in my 75D. With the temperatures around freezing, snow tires on the car, snow on the road, and doing 120 km/hour, I would have liked this location to be open (or better, the Victor, NY station to be open). I did the math and judged I would get about 80% of summertime range, so ignored the rated KM reading in the car, charged to 1.25 x the # of km from Syracuse to Buffalo, plus another 40 km just to be safe. I got not too much past Rochester before the car started panicking and telling me to slow it down. It was probably right too. I dropped to 105 km/hour (the speed limit there) and that calmed the car down for a while, but then it told me to slow down more, so I did (down to 100km/hour). I rolled into Buffalo with about 35 km rated range (which was about what I planned to have), and went to a bar down the plaza from that charger to find out the Patriots were down 28 - 3. (They got up to 28-9 before I left, and shortly after I crossed the border, they had won.)

On the way down to NY this weekend, I actually cut cross country from right around this Waterloo location, heading down to Ithaca. I thought I had enough charge to get to Binghamton, but misjudged, and ended up using the Chargepoint level 2 charger in Ithaca (it's on the BACK of the Enterprise Rental Car building). That blew, because it slowed me down an hour.

Anyway, long story short, another station along this route isn't a bad thing.

I believe the answer is yes.

Wilmorite owns Eastview Mall in Victor, which although not ideal for 390 south, is a great upscale location for Supercharging because it's a very nice mall. There's not much going on around the thruway 390 interchange. Maybe we'll see a sales center in Eastview mall at some point, which would add value to this location for Tesla.

The new casino is a great location for people visiting finger lakes wineries (& the Syracuse isn't a very nice "rest break" location).

I suspect it was a "hey, btw, wanna put a location in Waterloo too?"

For sure! My personal favorite is somewhere around Corning, so it serves N-S on NY99 as well as E-W on I-86.

I think the best location would be in the Rochester area. That would allow for reasonable access for Buffalo (my area) and Syracuse. Would be far better than driving to Lynnbrook, OH (200+ miles) that I currently contemplate. That said, I must say that I was very satisfied with my first use of the Ranger service for my 3 year service. The tech (Lorand) did the routine stuff and replaced the coolant heater under some sort of campaign due to a high rate of trouble with the original design. Was very interesting watching the disassembly process. Got an appreciation for where things were! I'm planning on renewing my service plan for another 4 years.

There should be one in Western NY and one in the Capital district (the latter would also serve some clients in Western New England).

Note that NY and New England (except New Hampshire) are CARB-ZEV states and ZEV credits will form a larger part of the margin for the Model 3 than for the S/X so Tesla ought to do everything to encourage sales in the region. However, being banned from opening stores is a big handicap. If they open a service center, they will have to hire someone FT just to fend off all the people that will come in to ask sales questions or request test-drives.

Not open yet, transformer is here but not installed..

Just saw the supercharger active on my navigation when looking to see how likely I could make Rochester this afternoon. I was like..... 'What? That's new!' So my fiancee and I changed route just to see it. Charged no problem but if you need a bathroom or food break and you're not 21..... You're out of luck.... The hotel area is still under construction.

Luckily my vice is Tesla addiction and kept my wallet away from the house.

Will Link a video on YouTube soon

I just happened to be passing by.....

The Waterloo supercharger is online and operational!

Yay! for Upstate NY.

I would like Corning next.

I was so mad at you:

I was driving to the Poconos and while looking at the map en route, saw Waterloo had been added so I hauled in to check it out. The snow storm started while I was there.

I have no US cell plan though (I'm Canadian), so couldn't check in online to say this site was online, but later saw you beat me to it anyway. Just once, I want to be first. ;-)

I got very slow charge speeds (~60kW) though. It was cold enough that I didn't bother roaming into the casino. Charged enough to get to Binghampton and left.
