I am glad to see Google moving forward with their autonomous vehicle program. They have been developing it for many years now and have many millions of miles of autonomous driving under their belts. They don't seem to be ready to sell it to consumers though. Whereas Tesla is pushing forward aggressively and putting hardware in all their cars. Whether that hardware can do full autonomous driving or not has been endlessly debated on TMC. Elon appears to think so. Others disagree.

I have seen the Google Waymo cars in Mountain View CA. They are limited to very low speeds.

They hired a bunch of "pilots" here in Chandler a year ago and I guess this is another step to accomplishing whatever it is they hope to accomplish. Fortunately for Google they are sitting on piles of cash, because the payback from this costly venture looks a bit cloudy at this point.

Are you talking about the koola cars? Those are the only slow cars they have. All other cars drive regular speed. They have to unless they would be a hazard

Anyone have a ride in one of these yet? I'm not sure if they are actually offering rides to the public yet.
