Hello,

Just today, i noticed a loud tapping sounds from my AC vent(passager side) every time i start my model S. the sound will last about 10-15seconds and it's gone. can someone tell me what this could be? i recorded a video of the sounds. my car only has 28k miles, 2016. thank you!

Not sure if there is a physical fan over on that side, but sounds like when my fridge compressor fan started to go out. The bearings in the fan axle started to fail, and the sound was fan blades hitting the shroud due to physical play. But as the fan speeds up the centrifugal force rebalances so it stops hitting. The bearings eventually then get worse and worse....

Just one guess.

that makes sense...i’m going to turn off the fan before entering the car and what happens if the fan doesn’t start. at least i’ll be able to isolate the problem.

That's one of the vent servos hitting the limit of travel. Usually it happens because the positioning sensor has failed or the gear in the servo housing is stripped. If it's happening all the time, then the gear is likely stripped. Some are hard to get to but the part is inexpensive.

Still under warranty? Get tesla to fix it.
