Welcome to a new month of not getting the FSD beta!

It would be interesting to know where the delay is. Is the FSD component "not good enough" yet? I suspect not as Elon was willing to expand the pool of beta testers for FSD. I think all of us would jump at the chance to even try out the existing functionality. He mentioned there would be more value in having people test v9 since it has more architecture changes. I wonder if the QA on the other parts of the system software is what it taking a while to harden or is everyone sitting around waiting for the FSD team to give a thumbs up?

FSD Beta = you have to babysit it very closely.
FSD = No babysit
Prediction: No FSD for next 18 months. Level 3 in very limited situations in roughly two years, although I'll be happy if comes earlier.
No idea when FSD Beta will be available to the masses. Maybe we should start a poll? Maybe never for the masses because have to have a good driving record?

Why would you be happy if it comes earlier, though? Stock price? I understand why @run-the-joules is frustrated, but am curious how you would be impacted one way or the other.

Out of curiosity, ballpark on how many folks paid for FSD? In particular, I’m curious how many whom ordered cars with FSD, with HW3 or HW3/MCU2? I know “older” cars can be upgraded, but how many bought FSD with all the “required” “hardware” at the time of ordering? I feel it would be easier to push the “beta” to those owners since everything is “in place” for “FSD”? Is it really millions?

Thing that sucks is, no other OEM in the US market really has anything to compete with AP/FSD, in a EV? I drove the E-Tron, it has cheese grade lane keeping, and a pretty decent ACC. That’s it. I’m sure the Taycan is about the same, seeing as it’s a VAG car. Yet to try the I-pace, but from the videos, it’s pretty cheese grade too. Folks will chime in about SuperCruise and how great it is, but it’s not connected to an EV drivetrain, yet. That’s really the only competition. I know little about MB’s Distronic + or whatever they call it, aside from the fact it sounds cool, and you can get it on the new GLE or whatever crossover?

At this exact moment there is no competition with AP/FSD, but that's going to change really quick.

The Bolt EUV will get released in the Summer of this year.

The Mach-E will get a hands free upgrade later this year.

I would feel much better about the misleading development milestone dates and underwhelming updates IF we could transfer the FSD feature we still haven't completely received directly to the purchase of another Tesla. I really want the Plaid, with the additional range, horizontal screen, hidden vents, and real door pockets, but I don't want to pay a second time for the FSD I still can't actually use still...not to mention the free SC for life that I can't transfer either. Tesla should have some empathy for the loyal early adopters who have waited through the vehicle's life cycle for a feature they were promised and paid for when new....

Wife and I are eager to pull the trigger as soon as FSD is available. Suspect a million others are also. Truth is wife wants to buy now, but I want to wait for real FSD to be available. We have two good minivans now and love the luxurious space.

I highly doubt "millions" of people are holding off on buying because of the lack of maturity of this feature. There might be a million people who have already bought waiting for it, but the average car buyer is not chomping at the bit to spend 10k or more on this feature, unless you mean "when there is no longer a steering wheel needed in the vehicle".

Forums (this one or otherwise) only represent a very small minority of people, so what we read here or anywhere else online doesnt necessarily represent everyone, or even "most".
