§17A-10-3c. Additional registration fees for alternative fuel vehicles.
1 (a) The annual registration fee for a vehicle fueled with hydrogen or natural gas is $200.
2 (b) The annual registration fee for a vehicle operating on a combination of electricity and
3 petrochemical fuels is $100.
4 (c) The annual registration fee for a vehicle operating exclusively on electricity is $200.
5 (d) The fees imposed by this section are in addition to any other fee set forth in this article

It's just another state with fixed fee to add to the list.

I do not like fixed fees for variable cost items, especially when the fees aren't applied consistently

Ok..first time I actually looked up a prior post on a topic that I have been thinking of.

It appears that WV charges a 6% tax on vehicle registrations based on vehicle purchase price.(Ouch!!!) Arizona has a more complex computation of the registration tax, but it is still based on the cost of the vehicle, NOT how much gasoline the vehicle consumes.

NOWHERE in WV or Arizona's registration fees does it ever mention how much of the registration fee is based upon gasoline usage or gasoline tax??? How in the hell would any state know how much gasoline I use in my car and the associated gasoline tax I would have paid??

WV or any state charging EV's an arbitrary $200, or any amount, for the car simply because it's an EV, and then claiming that the state is recouping lost gasoline tax is total Bull****!!!!

I think the EV owners in West Virginia and any other state that wants to charge EV's a fee that no other vehicle in their state is being charged, needs to file legal action!!!!
