Western Canada Superchargers

Sure. But it would also be nice to see them all through the Kootenays, the 97 corridor through Prince George, etc. Might put a crimp on Chademo adapter sales though.

I get it and we use Superchargers in the greater Vancouver area when we travel there. But it seems the interior is still a barren wasteland without a lot of Superchargers.

Kudos to Tesla for the few that are coming though. Every location helps. Would love to see a service/sales centre in Kelowna.

I think it's understandable that Tesla doesn't service some of these lower traffic routes. Full credit to BC Hydro for coming through with at least 50kW charging, and often at no charge.

Does anyone have any updates on the "coming soon"-for-ages White Rock BC Supercharger?
I have been following Tesla Supercharger deployments for 8 years now and have never seen Tesla make any kind of official announcement of when a “coming soon” location will start construction or become operational. Some people think they have received such information from Tesla sales or service people, but they are just guessing; they are not told in advance either.

Just found this on Facebook, looks like New superchargers in Canmore AB Boston Pizza parking lot will be finished next week! i dont know how to add these to the supercharger.info Map

Natural Resources Canada updated their site and Tesla is on there big time.

The new sites have a minimum of 8 fast chargers (possibly 6 Superchargers and 2 CCS/CHAdeMO, or maybe 8 Superchargers), and some with 11 fast chargers (likely 8 Superchargers and 3 CCS/CHAdeMO)

1500 Cranbrook Street North, Cranbrook BC (8)
#1 1809 BC-3A, Creston BC (8)
2001 BC-3, Fernie BC (8)
2701 11 Avenue North East, Salmon Arm BC (11 - likely 8 Superchargers and 3 CCS/CHAdeMO)
2200 58 Avenue, Vernon BC (16)
8513 74 Avenue, Osoyoos BC (11, 8 Superchargers and 3 CCS/CHAdeMO per the pre-existing Osoyoos thread here )
3030 Recplace Drive, Prince George BC (8)
2000 Columbia Avenue, Castlegar BC (8)

4523 4 Avenue, Edson AB (8)
QS-NE SEC-16 TWP-045 RGE-01 MER-6 Jasper AB (11, 8 Superchargers and 3 CCS/CHAdeMO per Jasper municipal meeting notes here)
6623 Highway 16A West, Vegreville AB (8)
7405 44 Street, Lloydminster AB (8)

3035 Clarence Avenue South, Saskatoon SK (8)
9800 Territorial Drive, North Battleford SK (8)

Note that these are partially NRCan funded, and a theory is that 25% will be non-Tesla, so the 8 stall locations may also be a mixture of Tesla and non-Tesla, possibly 6 Superchargers and 2 CCS/CHAdeMO.

TWP vs TWB?
Sorry about that, mis-spelled it. That's in Jasper.

NE quarter of section 16, township 45, range road 1, west of Meridian 6.
NE 16-T45-R01-W6
Just north of downtown in Jasper.

The municipal meeting puts it at the north parking lot on Connaught at the south end of the lot across from Robinsons.
That is at about Balsam Ave and Connaught Drive.

These will all likely be a combination of Tesla and CHAdeMO/CCS with maximum 75% proprietary and 25% generic
  • Electric Vehicle Fast Chargers: Any electric vehicle fast charger commercially available and certified for use in Canada. The charger must be a direct current fast charger (DCFC) rated for a minimum of 50 kW power output with at least one (1) charge connector that is CHAdeMO compliant and one (1) charge connector that is SAECombo (CCS) compliant or be a proprietary connector type.*
The following chargers are also eligible for funding if placed with a Level 3 fast charger as a supplementary charging option at the same site:
    • Fast charger with a power output of 20 kW to 49 kW
    • Level 2 (208 / 240 V) with a power output of 3.3 kW to 19.2 kW
* Other proprietary connector types may represent a maximum of 75% of all charging connectors installed at the same project site. The remaining balance (25% or more) must be universal charging connectors (J1772, J1772 Combo, and CHAdeMO) of the same category (i.e. Level 2 or fast charger).

It will be very interesting as to what they put in for the CCS/CHAdeMO charging stations and how they bill for it, whether they start their own network or use a third party network like Chargepoint, Flo, etc.

Regarding Chademo/CCS charging stations, it’ll be interesting because some list only 8 charging spots.

Are some parking spots equipped with both tesla and chademo/CCs. I don’t know if they would want to reinvent the wheel with a new supercharger stall design.

Also, this may be a future trend that they are going to follow to ensure they can tap federal/provincial/state funds from many jurisdictions.

The NRCan site lists total level 3 DC chargers of all types. In order to be eligible for the funding, a maximum of 75% of them can be proprietary (Tesla), and at least 25% of them must be Universal and at least 50 kW (hence CCS/CHAdeMO and not just a J1772), with at least one connector CCS and one connector CHAdeMO. That last point is how Electrify Canada can have only one CHAdeMO per site no matter how many stalls and still be eligible.

There are three locations with an odd number of 11 stalls.
Two of these 11-stall locations are already known to be 8 Tesla Superchargers + 3 Universal. These include Osoyoos which already has the site layout plans in the Osoyoos thread with 8 Superchargers and 3 CCS/CHAdeMO, and Jasper which will have 8 Superchargers and 3 CCS/CHAdeMO from the municipal meeting minutes. This fits within the 75% Tesla/25% universal rule. 11 * 0.25 is 2.75, so rounding up is minimum 3 Universal, leaving 8 for the remaining Tesla Superchargers,

The remaining 8-stall locations, in order to be eligible for the NRCan requirements, would need to have at least 8 * 0.25 or 2 Universal stalls, which leaves up to 6 Supercharger stalls. Which also happens to exactly match the majority of the V3 Trans-Canada highway 1 Supercharger sites (6 stalls per location).

The Vernon location lists 16 stalls, which would be at least 4 Universal stalls and up to 12 Tesla Supercharger stalls.

Thus:
11-stall locations will have 8 Tesla Superchargers and 3 CCS/CHAdeMO
8-stall locations will have 6 Tesla Superchargers and 2 CCS/CHAdeMO
16-stall locations will have 12 Tesla Superchargers and 4 CCS/CHAdeMO
