Western Canada Superchargers

I'm coming through Calgary this summer with my X and Airstream, but will be going between Banff and the Fort MacLeod Supercharger. This is a bit out of the way, but it definitely puts the drive just inside of Supercharging range. There are CHAdeMO options in Calgary, though, so that may be the faster choice. I'll have to pencil and paper it.

Great to have the option, though!

I didn't know there were any CHAdeMO chargers here. Where are they located?

@ohmman which airstream model and how much is your distance affected when you are pulling it?

Lots of details here:
Ohmman's Airstream Adventures
But basically range is cut down to about 125 miles in normal conditions with speeds at 55mph.

Apologies for imperial units.

If you have issues and I am around when you come through Calgary send me a note and I can let you charge at my place. My setup only allows for 25kms per hour, but if it helps I am happy to assist.

With the construction of this SC in the location that it is in, my summer plans have now become sooooo much easier! Thank you Tesla!

I was thinking the same thing. With an SC in Calgary you could make it to Drumheller and back now!

ohmman are you heading to Calgary via the Vancouver route? If you are I wouldn't mind dropping by the Hope SC if you stop there to shoot the shat and check out your trailer.

I will indeed be charging at Hope. I'll probably have a thread going as I travel and we can get in touch to see if timing works. It'd be great to see any of you along the way, for sure.

This is a great point and another reason why this is an ideal location for a SC. 115km from this SC to Drumheller, which going and forth (230km) is doable for any model. Also, gives you plenty cushion to drive around the badlands and see the area.

Exactly this! Plus the Ramada confirmed that they have block heater plugs in the stalls that I am welcome to use at any time during my trip. We are staying four nights so I should even be fully charged by my return.

I've heard of Hope being packed sometimes. Especially on holiday weekends in summer when a lot of people are driving to cottages or summer homes.

Who told you that? It's half-way to my cabin in Tulameen so I'm there twice many weekends in the summer, holidays included, and it's never been even close to being packed when I stop there. The only time that I've heard of it being full was during a Tesla rally which was expected. Maybe that's what you heard about.

I can see it happening soon though on a long weekend with so many more Teslas now on the road. But it's not like the old days when I had to keep my fingers crossed that the single Sun Country 80 amp EVSE across from the Blue Moose was vacant since there were no Superchargers in BC at all. We are currently in the glory days of owning a Tesla in southern BC with Superchargers in Hope, Squamish, Merritt, Kamloops and Kelowna -- where you're lucky to see one or two vehicles at most and never have to worry about them being full.

It's all going to change when the Model 3 is out there in numbers, and perhaps sooner. I'm glad it's no longer free to charge. I won't mind paying when I have my Model 3 knowing that is likely keeping stalls more open than otherwise. My wife already doesn't like to charge when coming home after a long weekend (or anytime for that matter, unless I can drop her off at a mall in the States and then head to one). If there's a line-up in Hope just to start charging it won't go over well. That's when I'll go back to gas... ;)

A crew was working this morning digging a trench line toward the super charger.
Spot for transformer is still empty.

Just as long as the service centre gets done before my two-year service is due at the end of this year. I was hoping the Calgary Supercharger would be around the Blackfoot Inn or even the Deerfoot Casino, Balzac isn't all that far from Red Deer really. But hey, we'll take what we can get.

Also, if it were really like the Flames/Oilers rivalry, then we would have four superchargers this year and Calgary would have none. Or we might have five, and Calgary would have one. :D

Man, it's so nice to have a decent team again.
