What a Change - 3 or S

Just read an article at Electrek. (Tesla Model 3 | Electrek)

The comparison of the pre-alpha prototype and the production version is striking. A I wrong or does the M3 now look more like the body style of the S??

From some of the comments, it looks like Electrek messed this up big time (shocking, I know). They assumed the same wheel size, when in fact the prototype had 20" wheels vs the 19" on the production.

• There might be differences due to the focal length
• The SN1 car is actually at an angle (see the front passenger side wheel which is offset from the front driver wheel)

if that is the case then musk shot model 3 sales in the foot. Why buy an s when you can get the 3 at 1/2 or more the price? Sure if you want a hatchback pay 2+x more..lol

When I saw the article I was thinking the same. Do we know for sure that they are 19's and not 18's that we are looking at?

According to a commenter, they are Continental 235/40 R19 tires. I don't know of an official source.

I am not convinced that Electrek properly scaled those two photos so they can be accurately compared. Don't jump to conclusions.

Let me take the opportunity to respond to the OP's original statement. Yes, indeed. that picture of the Model 3 looks more like the Model S than any other picture I've seen.

ADD it up <----Some of you will understand that statement. lol ( Hint: it has nothing to do with math )

I like that they have similar face. I also like the little changes to the Model 3 - the sharper rear, the small aerodynamic touches.

Its a picture of the side of SN1 though. That's what the comparison is about.

They did not change the shape or the length of the body dramatically.... They did the slightest alteration on the facia and thats just about it.

Take a look at this official Tesla Model 3 measurement.

Now compare it to the model 3 alpha measurement by motor trend and you find its the exact same!

I stand corrected. Indeed that's official.

Except that half of that Model S stuff is no longer available. except on the P100D.
