Not speaking of AP 1 feet data We are currently on AP2 discussing a potential AP3.

The HD mapping uses the vision system in combination with everything else. It's not a pure radar map, that would be a ridiculous idea with the current radar setup. I haven't seen anyone else on this thread suggest it besides you. The article linked to was suggesting adding radar signatures to work with existing maps.

Radar signatures used for road mapping has shown to work in a few papers over the last few years.

Again not one shread of evidence that Tesla is doing a y sort of radar mapping.

Tesla collects radar data together with camera images on AP2, some info here:
AP2.0 Cameras: Capabilities and Limitations?

Yeah thats not hd mapping. Thats simply random collection of radar data. Which they were already doing with AP1.

Even for hd mapping using camera. The real reason why i was the first and only person saying they will do it is because hd map is required for fsd. Not because there were anything at that time pointing towards the use of it.

Just like there isnt anything at this time pointing to the use of radar map.

Not the same as AP1 since they now has an accompanying image as well.

Could the radar data be used to establish a more accurate position of objects identified by vision by combining radar and vision data? Or just augment the identified vision objects with more data (speed vector for moving cars etc)?

Of course they are - and it's been widely publicized that they are.

Part of the response to the fatal crash was making the radar a bigger part of AP - and developing this whitelist of things that look like stopped cars in the road but aren't.

Guess what - that's a radar location map being developed by the fleet as a whole.

Admittedly, what they've told us about so far isn't really a useful basis for guiding a self driving car like the context of this discussion - but we know the cars are developing this coarse radar map together, and I don't think it's a huge leap to expect that they might be developing finer details in the same fashion in the future, up to the limitations of the installed hardware.
