What Are Your P85dl 1/4 Mile Times

F3DD3D6B-D0DF-43D0-B4F8-DA38ECE7417C.jpeg hi all- I just picked up a 2014 P85DL and took it to the track last night. My initial run was at about 89% SOC and no launch mode. I made several additional runs using launch mode and my best run was 11.767. My front tires are a bit worn, but I did not have any issue with traction. I have seen reports of 11.3 1/4 mile runs, but I was not even close. It was test and tune, so reaction time was not a factor. Is anyone running faster 1/4 and if so, what are your secrets?

How many miles on your Tesla? I hold the best times on Dragtimes for a P85D. My best time was 11.224 @119.00 with Ludicrous on June 4th,2016 at Famoso Raceway near Bakersfield, California. This track is a little faster than my usual track at Fontana, CA. From my experience Launch Mode does not decrease et but makes it harder to get a good reaction time. I prefer slip mode but lately, it seems to not make any difference. I try to avoid the water puddle and do a quick go before the staging lights. Sometimes the car hesitates resulting in about 0.2 seconds slower time. My recent best is 11.455 @ 114.32.

The battery degrades over time and mileage (mine is 59,000) so you will not see 11.3. Your 60' time is a little slow as I can do under 1.6 sec. The best SOC should be at least 90% but you do not need 100%. Hopefully, you don't have 2019.16.2 as I lost 20 miles of range (power?).

I did a 11.77 with the P85D a few weeks ago at 76% SOC. It's a non ludicrous car and was in Insane mode at the time. I think it has a little more in it, actually. Last week my P100DL, went 11.05, 11.02, and 11.01 before finally running a 10.88. And to be honest I could could not tell the difference in how the runs felt.

Somebody on here said to make sure the mirrors are folded and all the battery is good and hot, I'll have to give that a try next time.

I have about 82,000 miles on the car. I did not consider some of the advice about the folded mirrors, though doubtful it will get me a .3 improvement. My understanding of the ludicrous plus mode is that it pre heats the battery. Is there a need to put it in ludicrous plus mode for a longer period of time prior to launch? I was keeping it in chill mode until ready to stage to keep the SOC up. I did not have a choice about the water, as this track does not have a staging area for burnouts, you have to drive through the water to get to the line.

I am definitely looking forward to my next track event. There is so much to learn, most of the improvements will likely come from adjustments to the nut behind the steering wheel!

When you get the screen to activate maximum battery press maximum battery and the estimated time to reach it will appear in small letters below the driving modes. Once you make one pass the battery should be heated. I leave it on during racing. After you finish racing just push Ludicrous and max battery will be disabled. I am going racing this Thursday to see if the recent software reduced my power since my range at 100% went down from 238 to 218 miles.

Looking forward to hearing about your times. Please post them here so I can compare. I’m probably going back in a few weeks.

I seriously appreciate that input, I just ordered myself 2015 P85DL+ and while I couldn't care less about drag racing I was somewhat anxious I might not really be getting next best thing after Plaid.
