What battery failure looks like

I know there is a lot of talk about range and warranty... degradation is not covered and the way to take care of your battery matters. Here is what battery failure looks like.
My 2012 model s has 113,000 miles and charged perfectly forever.
90% = 231 - 235 ish
Then I woke up to
90% = 206
90% = 187
90% = 45

Battery failure is pretty obvious and when it happens the good news is the SC see it and your battery gets replaced.

I did not get a upgraded pack to 90 but rather a newer 85 referb pack. Basically my original A code pack that supercharged at 90kwh is now a referb B pack that cam supercharge at 120kwh.

In that screenshot you posted with 45 miles of charge, what was the percentage? It looks well below 90%.

If I understand your post they replaced your battery even though the car was years out of warranty with over 100k miles on it? I wonder how many car companies would replace a motor if it fails years after the warranty is over!

..ya, your green gauge is not 90% in the pix so why are you reporting range at 90?

Or are you saying you charged to 90 then the green gauge started jumping around wildly?

At least the new Leafs (Leaves?) are blowing air through the battery to cool it. That's a step up in helping combat poor history of degradation.

My 90% is 173 now. It looks like you had a big jump from your 187 to 45. How long did that take? Thanks for the information. It is very helpful.

Yeah, I noticed that as well but was confused because the op said 90% = 45 miles. I’m just curious what percentage it actually stopped at.

Yup I woke up to 45 miles and tried to get anything to charge even at 50% and it would not take it

8 years - unlimited miles on powertrain which is battery and electric motors

Always charge to 90%... this is show the consecutive days where the battery was consistantly losing range till it would only charge to 45 total miles. Did not matter where I put the charge limit to it would not take a higher charge

Yes the charge cycles in about 3-4 days started falling. Got a new battery in about a week, SC gave me a tesla loaner while I waited

It dropped from 235 to 207 to 187 to 45 in consecutive days. I always got about 235 at 90% for about a year that's how knew there was an issue

Correct the car regardless of set level would not charge above 45 miles. I did drive it to almost 0 and tried again to charge and got the same result

Unsure my pack was a 85kWh and at 26 miles or so per every 10% brand new I assume I was only getting about 20% total capacity at the end equaling 45 miles.
