Super excited for the car, and not our first Tesla. I have no doubts Tesla will address these minor issues. But, I’m curious what others have seen as far as defects and damage to their new cars.

Took delivery last night to find out I have a super lemon. BEWARE 2019 EARLY APRIL BUILDS. They are rushed.

Clips missing from all tires wells. No paint in door jams deformed dash, and windows that somehow passed inspection with the doorframe pieces twisted.
Overall paint job terrible, with dust flects in almost every inch. If you run the hand along with the paint it feels like little bumps all over.

Yikes! Mine is late March build and it’s not the worst paint they’ve ever done, but a ton of overspray. Make sure to make note of everything within the first 100 miles for delivery concerns. This is the sheet I received at delivery.

Return it.

March build. I found a March 29th inspection sticker. the fit and finish is amazing.

Only issue is the autopilot won't work. auto steer and cruise both disabled even when turned on --seems the front radar is either not configured or inoperative. The mobile guy is checking it out Monday.

Here's what I got...M3 LRD, 2018.
  • Rattles - from front console, where the phone chargers are located.
  • Front passenger seat felt somewhat loose - Tesla replaced it with no discussion, really impressive.
  • Loose front passenger tweeter speaker. Just slightly loose, wasn't clipped in all the way.
  • Steering wheel covering was rubbing down, seemed to wear sooner than expected. Tesla replaced it with no discussion, really impressive.
  • Loose plate underneath the car. There is a plate under the car protecting the battery. We noticed a squeak sound, we thought it was the shocks. But that plate was not torqued enough, and was causing the noice. Tesla fixed it, no issues since.
  • Trunk bumper rubber seal. This seemed to be an issue of clips not being installed correctly. Tesla checked it out and said it was "normal" for the first report. The issue seemed to get worse, Tesla agreed it needed fixed and got it squared away after a 2nd visit. No issues since.
  • Screen flickering. Tesla says this is due to a software issue and nothing is wrong with the screen/ipad itself

WOW!!!

I still haven't been scheduled for my appointment and it's been about a month since I picked up my car. The Due Bill shows 2 issues with paint but I've since found 4 more issues. Mostly with paint but also a small chip in the front passenger side window. And the hood doesn't fit flush on one side. I think they'll take care of all so I'm not worried.

Mobile guy came today and fixed my radar. It wasn't configured properly during the build. Autopilot is now working well. First service was about as painless as could have possibly been.

Not too noticeable for me cause I'm half blind and it's black but a friend drew my attention to massive "orange peel" paint on my quarter panel.. A bit more noticeable in sunlight also quite a few dust spots imbeded in paint Scratches on B pillar..flaw in headliner which was noticed by the tint installer... Who looks up? . All information given to Tesla rep we shall see what happens when the part (b pillar) comes in and I bring it in to show....

My Dad took delivery of a White LRAWD yesterday and it appears to be flawless in all respects. Left the factory on April 7, 2019. Paint job is GORGEOUS. My paint job (Red P3D from 11/28/18) was very good, but not as good as his.

I had a couple of small issues -- but its a car and I really find these threads to be the antithesis of what i want to do with my P3D. I want to drive it and enjoy it, not dwell on the little stuff. Tesla fixed everything that I asked them to (including an alignment to resolve the steering wheel being off-center), were completely professional (Paramus, New Jersey SC) and I absolutely love my car.

One month anniversary for my RWD MR M3 is today. On delivery we noticed a tiny cut in the steering wheel cap. Agent took a photo and advised Service would replace. I have an appointment for 5/5. I washed the car for the first time on Sunday and noticed a micro chip in the paint on the passenger side door. I'm not certain it was present at delivery and it's not a big deal, but hopefully I can get a touch up pen to cover it up so it doesn't rust or get bigger in the future.

Here are some defects, April 11, 2019 build.
Missing Clips in the tire well.
Missing paint in both from door jams and trunk hatch.
3 door panel misaligned and one having a weird plastic piece stuck over the window seal.
Rear passenger door, completely not attached window seal.
The car was very loud at highways speeds, I wonder if the loose and unattached windows seals were the culprit.

The entire car in some places worst than others has the common tesla orange peel. Which I can accept but, the paint on my has a large number of particles under the paint.

This gives me hope that an April build was done well. I am so worried about the quality of the 2019 builds.
