A brand new leftover 2020 Nissan Leaf SL+. I only had it for six months till I discovered I loved the concept of an EV but was bored to death with that car. No Knocks. Was excellent for what it was but boring. A week after I bought it my son shows up with a model Y. The rest is history.

Previous to that I had a 2014 Infiniti Q50 hybrid with the tech package (loaded). I bought it new and owned it for seven years. 360 HP, 405 ft. lb. @ 1450 RPM. 0-60 in five seconds flat and in the summer averaged 30 MPG. V8 performance with 4cyl economy. It gave me a taste of what electrons can do. A NA VQ35 engine with an electric motor between the flywheel and transmission. The response was instantaneous.

I loved that car but it was time to move on.

The wife still has her 2012 Mercedes SLK 350 (R172). Bought new and meticulously maintained. Only ~50K miles on it. We are going keep it for a while. Summers ya know.

I consolidated my 2008 Nissan Frontier and my 2012 Ford Focus into one Model 3. It's a no-brainer that the Tesla will easily replace the Focus, but the jury's still out on whether I'll need another truck at some point.

2004 VW TDI Wagon, donated to NPR.
This was the first car I bought ‘new’ and it lasted a long time (still going strong I would guess)
I used to burn 20-50% Bio-Diesel D2 mixes which was my main reason for going TDI.

Model 3 is a whole another thing, never thought I would spend this much on a vehicle but no regrets after two years.
Would love a Tesla Model 3 Wagon - maybe a Y is in my future…

Sold my 2017 Cadillac XT5 out from under its lease to get into the Model 3. Loved that XT5, but Model 3 takes it to a whole different level.

A little over 2 1/2 years later and it’s the first car I’ve ever owned that doesn’t have me thinking “what car next?”

I’ve never been this happy with a car, ever.

Had a 2019 dodge charger hellcat I purchased new in 2019. I then, Sold it and purchased a new 2021 audi a6 allroad. Quality was terrible and had many issues right off the bat so I Sold that. Ended up with 2021 M3P red/black. Do not regret at all. The M3P is so fun to drive.

2015-January 2020: 2012 Civic sedan - DX trim, I thought it was a horrible car.. A lot of irregular turbo lag, so I was always extremely hesitant to pull out in front of traffic not knowing how it would respond. Rattles and squeaks everywhere, uncomfortable, AC often didn't work, had 3 dead batteries (over 5 years) leaving it stranded, pretty much the worst of everything.

January 2020-September 2021: 2020 Civic Sport sedan - I was actually surprised how much I liked this car. Fit & finish was actually really good on mine, although horrific road noise. The Infotainment onboard wasn't amazing, but the voice control worked surprisingly well with Apple CarPlay. Headlights were awful and IMO the biggest weakness. The sound system sucked until I added sound insulation (KILMAT + Noico) which brought out a lot of the missing low end. I traded in to Tesla because of the massive increase in value and the sales tax benefit on the deal, so weirdly enough I made a "profit" on paper with this car.

September 2021-Now: 2021 Model 3 Performance - Obviously the speed is dramatically different, but I was surprised how much nicer the interior quality was. I had read a lot online about how the interior felt like a Civic / Corolla, but I did not at all get this impression. It could be due to when I got it, maybe things in prior years of the 3 weren't as nice, I didn't test drive a Model 3 until late August 2021 after I had ordered because I knew what the test drive effect would be.

A 2021 BMW M2 Competition in M/T. Best decision ever. I've saved $140 in gas within the first week of onwership (only $30ish in electricity) and better performance to boot. Best decision ever.
