Pretty sure that indicates your phone is configured to be used as a key. Answered the same thing in another equivalent thread a couple days ago. Probably a new icon in the latest app release.

I have the latest app release but don’t see that icon for my 2018 Model 3, even though my phone is a phone key.

latest as in 4.12? It literally just dropped for Android but it's been available for a while for iOS...

Checked the App setting on my Pixel, and the app version is indeed Version 4.12.1-1271. I had this version for more than a week now.

Ok, then it didn't become available for everyone on Android at the same time, which is also typical. I has probably only been available a day or two for me max.

I was wondering the same thing. Car version is 2022.24.8 and app is 4.12.1-1271.
I see the icon when the car is locked or unlocked, which is what I thought at first.

Which phone do you have? Not seeing this on my iPhones. Didn't realize at first you were looking at the widget rather than the app.

I tested this on my Android 13 Pixel 6 PRO. I setup the widget and did not see that icon. I then got into the car and the icon appeared. It seems that it shows up when the phone as a key has been activated. That's my best guess.

If that icon means the phone is set up as a key, why does the icon appear and disappear randomly throughout the day? I don't get it.

The icon is always there on mine, sometimes its white and sometimes its greyed out
The icon there but greyed out means that the phone is set up as a key but not connected
The white icon is when you are in proximity to your car and your phone is/can be used as a key

Maybe it's a bug on mine because it's completely random whether I'm at work and my car's 100 yards away or I'm at home and it's 15 yards away with a building in between us. Probably the only time I haven't seen it is when I'm inside the car using it.

I believe this to be true.
I've monitored this for a day and I purposely moved out of proximity and then within proximity. When I exited the car it was white. I got far enought out of the way and once it disconnected, it went grey. Now I did walk back into the garage and it stayed grey until I woke the car up with the phone but in proximity.
You can still wake the car up from the app and it stays greyed out.
