I figure at worst every 6 months, maybe yearly. There washable so taking them off basically makes it the same as it has been for the last 140k I just thought I’d sleep better knowing leaves and large stuff won’t get sucked into the fans. I often follow farm trucks with hay spewing off the back, or travel up dirt backroads covered in leaves.
I Spent an hour or so installing a new Carbon Fiber Front Lip onto #619. Very good quality and fit from Medlock and Sons. Great Halloween Update and easy To install.
I found a set of Roadster rims on a Dutch second hand website. The rims needed some work, because the rims had a lot of corrision. I am going to use them for winter tires. Hereby some pictures: Before: After:
Awesome! It looks like the gunmetal on the final roadster series. What’s the color called and paint code?
On the wheel porn front. I put my snow tires on. I also came across some fun wheels that were being sold for $80. That’s $80 for 4, not each, and they were/are still boxed. They were got for a G5 that died long before it got to meet the wheels. I had to make some 5mm spacers to clear the calipers but I kind of like them. I put my old 225 45 17 from a rear set on it to see if I liked the look of a square set. I think 16 inch similar style wheels are out there and if I find some I’ll make these into two sets. In the mean time I had to put my winter tires on as snow is settling on the ground now. The powder coating looks great. But leaving me with far to many sets of wheels now.
Yes, original base no frills yellow that gets abused far more than it should, thankfully the S has a tow hitch now so I have stopped using this to drag stuff around.
Didn't know where to put the hard top so took a day and a half to reorganize the shelves, repaint the wall, and Hang the Hard Top. Concrete was a mission; although I installed the prior shelving which had 3 screws per hinge; no idea why I had such a hard time this time around.
Doing the Dynamat Sound Deadening Phase II - Didn't think I was going to do the floor foot well but if you remove the floor mats and knock on the floor it's Loud as hell back there so it definitely needed to be done while I was in there. I spent all day doing this today so kind of proud at the tedious and quality work I did! Also receiving Carbon Fiber Headlight Buckets I am going to upgrade to the triple halo sequence like I have now on my headlights; this will be the first of the kind; let alone the carbon fiber headlights!
Finally got around to doing some stuff to the Roadster during the holiday break... - Replaced all OEM speakers with Rockford Fosgate ones (5-1/4" in the rears) - Tinted the rear glass... easy to do with the speakers out of the way - Installed the brake light mod... visible LED to know when the brake lights are on - Reversed the interior light so now pushing it forwards makes it turn on, and back turns it off (more intuitive to me)
Looks like you put the brake light mod LED on the passenger side of the brake light housing rather than the driver's side like I did, but I guess either works so long as the LED is pointed at the mirror.
Good stuff! I wish I could use a brake light mod. currently the brake lights only light up when I press the brake pedal. wish I could switch the software to US mode and regenerative braking would also cause the brake lights to light up. Much safer. who can hack this?
Yep, I was going to put it on the driver's side, but the leads on the LED were not long enough and I didn't want to splice into it to make it longer, smart or lazy... you decide . I also drilled the hole a bit small so I could just push it into place w/o having to glue it. Steve deserves the credit here, as I believe he came up with this idea. Thanks GJVR... wish I could help you in the hacking, but that is beyond me. If you are able to get this done, shoot me a message and I'll send over an LED... I had to buy a lot of 20.
All these refinished wheels look great. I'm starting to wonder what color/finish would look good with Glacier Blue.
