What the $#@$# is going on with Model X custom orders

Tesla scheduled for my pickup delivery last Friday. Login to Tesla website and did a direct wire transfer. I've not written a paper check for a long time and since Tesla allows for wire transfer and indicated on their site must paid in full before I can pick up the car.
Who knows they delayed my delivery, twice. How's everyone paid Tesla? write them a paper check at the time of pick up?

I learned the first time with my 3 - write a check. I did Ach transfer 3 days befor my first delivery date - only for them to schedule something the morning of delivery 3 days later without confirming a good date for me. Tesla has no issue taking payment early to count it as a delivery. And also have no issue delaying delivery for “quick fixes” . Even when I received my 3 last year it still needed more repairs with paint defects and gap issues. Which they did fix within the first month.

From an accounting standpoint not sure they should count is as delivered as there is no exchange- it should be a liability on their end until you take possession- but I believe Tesla has some unconventional accounting rules.
 
I ordered new Model X Performance on 08/14/2019. Site said, "2 weeks" (and still does). It's now 5.5 weeks and counting. My 4th Tesla purchase.

08/2013 - Model S 85
12/2014 - Model S P85D
01/2016 - Model X P90D Signature
08/2019 - Model X P100D

Surprised they haven't updated the 2 week estimate to reflect reality. I already sold the 2016 Model X and the buyer is patiently waiting... Inaccurate estimates have a ripple effect.
 
I ordered new Model X Performance on 08/14/2019. Site said, "2 weeks" (and still does). It's now 5.5 weeks and counting. My 4th Tesla purchase.

Going to have to assume you and I (California buyers) are in the same boat - my SA told me
Expect delivery at the end of the month - regardless of the “within 2 weeks” promise. They have 6 days to meet that for Q3 sales
 
All, a final update from me, the OP. THE X has finally arrived! Painful sales process but driving the Raven took the sting off of things for us. Worth the wait, glad we stuck it out.

I am still tentatively scheduled for tomorrow for pickup, but have no movement on my account. No VIN, no asking for payment, nothing from delivery specialist via email or phone since Friday despite my attempts at contact. This is getting frustrating as we are more than month since I ordered, my trade in has been sitting in my driveway collecting dust. Guess I just need to hurry up and wait.

I just waited. I reached out to SA and DA but not much help. All of sudden I got a text saying, please schedule your delivery date and time.
Have a check ready or submit payment as it should be very close and VIN did not show up either. It just showed purchase insurance option after scheduling the delivery.
 
I think you guys are a couple of steps behind me and I still don't have the car yet. I've a VIN two weeks ago, payment completed early last week meaning Tesla already have my money. Spoke to the SA three times because they rescheduled my delivery three times. Hope to pick up my car this week. Just FYI that a few of us on here got a call two hours before delivery to reschedule. Yep, don't want to say the 4-letter word again. Hope the MX is worth it. So far, it's been a PITA process for me. Good luck with your delivery and hope you get your car on the 1st scheduled.
