Good at math....those who can make sense out of the total cost of ownership vs. just looking at the upfront cost.

Gearheads....yes. People who appreciate high performance machines.

Early Adopters - Those not afraid to hop onto the new technology and move forward to the future.

Depending on the age I would add:

Car-guy, mechanically inclined, detail orientated, appreciates form and function and a certain level of control at all times.

Pretty well off. A little show off. Up to now certainly with a level of geekyness...

Seems regular folk find S too expensive.

I find that in Michigan, few people even notice my silver S. And that’s fine by me.

I do have the cybertruck reservation. Everyone will notice that...haha.

As a fellow Michigander unfortunately I get noticed too much on my black S.

Depending on where I am, I get lots of interest and questions about my Model S. And to be honest, I enjoy telling people about Tesla and dispelling myths and misinformation.

My wife, on the other hand, is sort of shy and really hates the attention. She doesn't like to drive my car 'cause she knows she's going to get questions. :)

Oh. And to answer the OP's question:

Intelligent, early adopter types. Well off, with above average status and income. A lot of Tesla owners I know (including myself) work in a technology related field.

I believe wholeheartedly in doing what I can to reduce emissions, but would own a Tesla regardless of that issue. To me, Tesla is the best available reflection of the future of transportation.

Well, if we go based on demographics, I suppose the most common adjective would be "Californian."

I won't comment as to whether that is positive or negative.
