with Range Mode on, I see the rated range displayed number go up by around 3-5km

I just range charged my 70D overnight (about to leave on a short trip), with Range Mode = OFF, 100% = 384km rated range.
Switched to Range Mode = ON and a few moments later the rated range display showed 388km.

meanwhile my 90% after 11months is 347km (216mi), with Range Mode OFF.
It's been quite consistent since I got the car, around 345~347km rated at 90%

Tesla rounds up so if the .36 puts it at or over .50 it displays 1 more mile when toggled on. From what I've read and heard this number varies greatly by battery. The original classic cars got 3-5 more miles, you can get up to 2 (70D right?) while my 90D is .36. The "D" car's obviously benefit from the use of the front motor but I'm not seeing it on the display.
Yes, I have a 70D from 5/15 delivery. How do you get the information that shows up in the bottom of the post that most people use to display info on their cars?

July 2013 S85 at 45k miles, 224 rated @ 90%

Looking at my last three 90% charges and pulling together battery ambient temperature and range mode charging differences:

November 4 90% 241.07 Rated (388.0km,) (40A) 15C/59F
November 7 90% 241.45 Rated (388.5km) (40A) 11C/51F with preheating
November 8 90% 243.62 Rated (392.1km) (40A) 13C/57F with Range Mode no preheat (270.69@ 100%)

July 2015 85D with 12,000 miles

It would seem that warming the battery in the early part of charging cycle on a cool day affects range and charging with range mode on adds 2- 3 miles.

My 2013 (pre-owned) Model S 85 with 17k miles gets ±186 at 90%, so far.

Needless to say I'm actually pretty disappointed about this score. I was expecting to get a lot more milage out of it. I've been told it might have something to do with the current cold weather. The avarage temperature is currently fluctuating around 10° C.
I've followed all the common guides on energy saving for better range but I'm not seeing any improvements.

Coady, there is something seriously wrong with your car. You should have it checked out by Tesla immediately. That is not degradation, that is battery (module) failure
Hmm. That doesn't sound good. I'll get in touch with tech support a.s.a.p.

Take a look at the dash pic I've added. This was from a 90% charge. 256km is ±159 miles, btw.

I'm happy that our numbers are so close, my 90% is 395km or a little under 245 miles. I have a Dec 2015 85D.

I just did a charge to 90% overnight.

Isn't that just about a 15% degradation from new? Have you ask Tesla if this is considered normal degradation? I'm at 226 @ 29K miles vs 227 @ 0 miles in my P85D so essentially 0% degradation based on reported range miles so far.

I've not asked, I will have a cross country trip at the end of Dec that will give me a better true idea where I am at, since my original post I ran it down to 12% and charged back to 90% and now it shows 226miles for 90% charge so it may just need some rebalancing as the last time I ran it low was back in July.

I think you have to charge it to 93% or greater to trigger the balancing. 90% wouldn't do it based on wk057's research papers on this topic.
