When alarm goes off, live video on phone

Tesla S has front and rear camera so why not Tesla update ability to activate both cameras and stream video to your smartphone so you can take pictures of perpuators? A $99 drone can do that! Insurance companies would love it as if someone keys or trashes your car, you have a photo or video record!

This can occur automatically when alarm is activated or could be activated on Tesla smartphone app.

Because Tesla has a lot of bigger fish to fry given its limited resources and massive cash burn. Also, front and rear cameras cannot capture what's happening on the side of your car, where presumably the perpetrator is attempting to gain entry. By the time the cameras are activated, someone has already breached the perimeter of the vehicle and is likely either already inside or in the process of entering. Neither camera will help you in that case.

There's also a hardware limitation; the front camera cannot stream video to the center display (CID) because there isn't enough bandwidth available on the CAN bus. What would be possible however, is to allow you to listen to the car via the hands-free microphones.

At least if someone backed into your Tesla you would at least have license plate. As for massive cash burn it could be an option to purchase activation? Just a thought.

While led it's true you can't catch action on the side, chances are that the perpuators may walk away in front or rear of car and be recorded so it may be of help.

I think a good example of what you're talking about is in this video of someone keying an Aston Martin, captured thanks to the front dash cam:

I do wish Tesla offered a dash cam option. I would pay good money for an integrated solution.
