What if they don't officially announce it but you have to call your advisor to get the refund? I don't see any problem with sharing the information here.No one knows how or when it will be done. Just relax it will get done. People here are nuts with speculation - why don't you wait till they officially announce something??
I hope they issue the refund in Tesla Credit. You can put it towards a new car deposit, FSD or EAP, maybe a set of rims and tires.
that would effectively not penalize Tesla as much, as then the credit would be spent with them. What do you have against cash?

Depends on the user, things like tires, wheels, floor mats, swag, service costs would all be things I imagine it would work for.If you just bought a new car (which you would have to qualify for this) and already have FSD or EAP and have the PUP upgrade, there really isn't anything you can buy for $5k in the near future, is there?

Ok fair enough, I just think giving it in the form of credits would be even more divisive, because some people have nothing left to spend it on.
I called 1-800-customerservice today about another issue (super charging still has never shown up in my account - so not sure I will ever be able to trade it in even if I wanted to!) and I asked about the $5K refund. The rep said he had to "find it" (assume an email) and then read me a canned statement. Paraphrasing a bit, he basically said that I will get an email or notification in my account once they figure out how to implement Elon's tweet.
The interesting thing is if there are owners with FUSC on some cars and others don't. Do they get charged on the cars without FUSC?
No other manufacturer includes a $5k package for free 2 months after introduction too. So? Do we treat Tesla as a traditional manufacturer or not now? Oh right whatever puts them into a better situation.I agree, they aren't ideal, but as a goodwill gesture they are perfect. No other manufacturer would give you anything in this situation, only Elon while drunk tweeting backed himself into this corner.
