A significant number of my fellow Model 3 reservation holders are going to get "schooled" on this very subject circa-2018/2019 as they cling to their notion of reservation "sequence".

This is precisely why Tesla did not issue sequence numbers for Model 3 reservations. It was mind boggling to see the number of posts of people trying to make sense of their RN numbers and somehow figure out where they were in line when so many factors not yet determined will ultimately affect when they get their vehicle.

Hi, this is my 1st post

I'm super interested in buying an X, but skeptical with delivery dates. I live in NY, and the Manhattan store said I could get delivery on a new order in “June or July” as long as I do the six or seven seat configuration. I'm open to buying from other locations, i just wanted to start with my local dealer.

This surprised me because I thought there was a lengthy queue of reservations (30,000?) that would get priority before my new order.

Can anybody explain this to me? How is it that Tesla is delivering brand new orders as soon as June if there are so many reservations still un-delivered?

Any advice is appreciated

Thank you!

I ordered a 90d about 30 days ago. Did so much researches for the same question you have. Here is my answer that I think is kinda reliable for the actual time will receive.

Basically use the estimate delivery date showing online or giving by the salesman as the date the car going to production. Then plus time I am going to mention below.

My guess for you to order tomorrow, the production date is in late june-mid july. It only takes them 1 week to build your car, then another week for the quality control such as checking for leaks. Then it will take about 3 weeks for them to ship to NY via train or trailer. After it arrives local service center, you can pick up in like 2 business days. Every now and them local service center might do to some final small fix could take another 3-7 days before you pick it up.

Go online to click Order NOW and pay $5000 deposit. It gives you 7 days to finalize the order. During this 7 day, you can decide what options you want to get. First is to start the order now to put yourself to the wait.

Get the X, it is the best car on earth. I have checked SUV/light truck with cayeen, mercedes, range rover, BMW in the past few years, non of them feels like a life changing car. They are basically the same car with rearranged buttons locations and 60% buttons you never use.

Thank you everyone for responding. Are there any people who haven’t filled their orders and do you think that’s why the time between order and production has shortened so much?
You mean people who have Model X reservations but haven't yet confirmed an order? I would imagine there are still lots of those. Some may be waiting for later production so more of the early bugs are shaken out. Some may be waiting in hope that a 100 kWh battery option comes out soon. Some may be hoping for a version that has fold-down middle row seats. But yeah, I'd imagine there are still a fair number of reservations without confirmation.

Hi Eresan, Looks like I ordered 10 days after you and I'm in Portland, we will have to schedule a Model X Meetup! Have you received any updated production date info? My Tesla does not show any date for me yet, just in the queue.

I had to e-mail my DS 2 or 3 times before I got a response, but I truly believe he didn't see the earlier e-mails. He was awesome once he saw my questions, even delivered a Model S to my door for an overnight test drive so I could figure out if the size of the car would work for us (it wouldn't). Maybe they are inundated with e-mails? There should be a phone number listed too. Did you try calling? If not, and if no number is listed, then call the store where you've chosen to take delivery and leave a message for him (Jesse is actually a guy).

He may not have any more specific info than what you see in "My Tesla" but it's worth a call to check.

I'm not sure about Model X "time line", but I ordered my Model X 90D 6 seat fully loaded on March 31st, 2016 in Brooklyn, NY. Received noticed on June 28 that it was delivered to my Brooklyn showroom. Just received an email that the car can be picked up at anytime. Was surprised to hear that the car was ready so soon. I have another month or so before I turn in my Range Rover lease. Hope to be in my new Model X within the next 3 weeks. Tesla is ramping up delivery. Good luck.
