When is everyone expecting their Model X to be delivered?

Hi, this is my 1st post :rolleyes:

I'm super interested in buying an X, but skeptical with delivery dates. I live in NY, and the Manhattan store said I could get delivery on a new order in “June or July” as long as I do the six or seven seat configuration. I'm open to buying from other locations, i just wanted to start with my local dealer.

This surprised me because I thought there was a lengthy queue of reservations (30,000?) that would get priority before my new order.

Can anybody explain this to me? How is it that Tesla is delivering brand new orders as soon as June if there are so many reservations still un-delivered?

Any advice is appreciated :oops:

In my opinion, June is not likely. July is cutting it close. Considering that Elon tweeted that they slowed down the line, I would expect a new reservation to be delivered around August. There is a big queue, but those are not being built yet (e.g. 75D, 5-seat option, international orders). So 90D/P90D with 6/7 seats (in the US) are high priority right now.

When they begin shipping internationally (very soon?) that may further delay builds.

Oh wow, really? What did he tweet? I don't see anything recent on his timeline about ModelX.

But I agree with you - June/July seems super farfetched. A friend of mine has a long-standing order and his expected delivery date was April/Early May, but hasn't received anything yet....

Hi, this is my first post as well. I reserved my X in August 2014 and confirmed it on Jan. 5, 2016. I was told last week that my P90DL, 6 seat with all of the premium upgrades will be going into production this month and I should expect delivery in mid June. Don't see how any new orders could be delivered before August. I live in South Carolina and there are no service centers here. Maybe that's part of the problem. I've had a VIN # (52xx) for a couple of months, but no car.

I'm scheduled to pick up my MX90 at Tesla Mount Kisco on June 22, production sometime mid-May. Heck, if all NY orders are config before production, we may have a good chance of a big order coming our way.

I don't think it matters too much where you order your X from (e.g., Manhattan, Mt. Kisco, Syosset, Paramus, etc.). It all goes into the online system. And the sales rep/store only make a small commission on the sale (unlike traditional stealerships). You can just order it online. It might be helpful to let a rep put the order in for you so you'll have a point of contact for any prospective changes that you need or issues that arise. But your assigned delivery specialist can take care of those.

As to where you pick it up, I believe they usually only do pick-ups at locations with service centers (Manhattan does not have a service center), so you may have to pick it up in Westchester or on Long Island. But don't quote me on that. It's possible they could just drive the X down to Chelsea from Syosset or Westchester for your pick-up. Picking it up in PA or NJ won't save you any tax as you'll pay that based on where you live (where the car is registered).

I'd say that if you order a 90D or P90D with 6 or 7 seats today, you could have the car in July (assuming they really kick production into high gear). But I would be flexible on delivery time: lower expectations lead to lower disappointment levels. There are people who are still waiting with reservations made in 2012 and 2013, but there are also people who ordered in 2015 who have their cars now: it's all based on the specific configuration and location, and whether final QA reveals any major issues. This will get better over time.

It's becoming pretty clear that delivery dates vary by location from what I'm gathering.

Yes, we totally need more East Coast complainers! :)

I saw my first X in Manhattan the other day: A Titanium Metallic P90DL with black wheels, parked on 7th Ave across the street from Madison Square Garden (I posted a couple of pics in the "Model X Pics in the wild" thread). It was parked there for hours, maybe a guest at the hotel?

Akon got his Atlanta Model X in December :p But maybe it was grouped with his LA one. :D

It's also the duty of Tesla, as a publicly traded company, to fulfill its commitment to its shareholders by maximizing margin contribution and revenue. Failing to do so in the name of social-economic equity would be a dereliction of duty by its officers and invite any number of shareholder lawsuits. It is really their only choice.

A significant number of my fellow Model 3 reservation holders are going to get "schooled" on this very subject circa-2018/2019 as they cling to their notion of reservation "sequence".
