Where do the written off Teslas go in Aus?

How is it there are so many totalled Teslas at the moment?
Today's Tesla X writeoff auctions sold for 33k and 16k. The latter was pretty well damaged but is heading my way for the batteries and motors for other projects...

Looks about right. The one I got's wearing springs not air suspension, same as this one. That's not really much of a news story is it? Just someone's video and no text or commentary whatsoever!

Yeah its crazy $45K plus the fee from Pickles, it gets better the S model statutory write off P100D got passed in at $51K and it has got battery casing and rear gear drive damage.

45k is a fair chunk of dough, not forgetting that an insurance company assessed (rightly or not) that it would be more costly to repair than replace/pay out.
I'd be interested to see your pics. Did you take any of the white X by any chance!? I'll be seeing it in due time anyway...

The bodywork is easy enough to fix, one thing I did notice it was not live so maybe deactivated?
